Logged Messages (PL_MESS)

Organization of this page

Function

The Logged Messages (PL_MESS) record stores the messages that are written into the log file specified by the Messages File property or the event file. A record is created for each line of message that is written into the log file. This is a multi-instance record.

For details about the Messages File property, see F.2 Agent Collector service properties. For details about event files, see 5. Collecting Log Information.

Notes:
  • This record cannot be used in Linux.

  • The only log files monitored by this record are files that monotonously increase. The increase that has occurred since the start of log file monitoring is collected as data. Therefore, if there has been no increase, no data is collected.

  • Specify the absolute path of the log file for the monitoring target in the Messages File property or the event file. If log files are specified in both the Messages File property and the event file, both log files are monitored. If the log file specified in the Messages File property is invalid, this causes an OS error when PFM - Agent for Platform is started, and the KAVF10150-W message is displayed. If the log file specified in the event file is invalid, the KAVF10203-W message is displayed. If either of these messages is output, change the log file and restart PFM - Agent for Platform.

  • If the same path and the same identifier (id) are specified multiple times inside the event file, the messages are summarized into a single record. However, if the same path and the same identifier (id) are specified in the Messages File property and the event file, separate records are created.

  • If a space is specified for the log file, no log file is monitored.

  • When this record is displayed as a real-time report, the display changes as follows.

    • If Indicate delta value is not selected, all message texts that have been added since the service startup are displayed.

    • If Indicate delta value is selected, only the message texts that were added during the display interval are displayed.

  • This record does not support collection in a logical host environment. Collect this record in a physical host environment.

  • PL_MESS records cannot be used to collect log file information for logfile items in the /opt/jp1pc/agtu/agent/evfile file that contain an asterisk (*).

A value between 0 and 32,767 seconds can be specified (a value within the range specified for Collection Interval). Use this item to distribute the collection load, because executing data collection all at once results in concentration of the processing workload. Note that the data collection duration to be recorded is the same as the Collection Interval, regardless of the value specified for Collection Offset.

When changing the Collection Offset value, specify a value that takes into account the impact of the collection processing load.
