12.1 Overview of linking with the integrated management product JP1/IM for operation monitoring

Performance Management enables you to monitor operations by linking with the integrated management product JP1/IM.

By linking with JP1/IM, you can use the same display to monitor Performance Management, other JP1 products, and other programs. If a problem occurs, you can also display a Performance Management report about the host on which the problem occurred, based on the JP1 events issued for the problem. Moreover, you can log on to Performance Management as a JP1 user.

The following figure shows an example of operation monitoring by using Performance Management linked with JP1/IM.

Reference note: What is JP1/IM?

JP1/IM is a product that provides integrated operations management of the JP1 series. It provides the functionality to perform integrated management of entire enterprise information systems. With JP1/IM, monitoring is possible with the Central Console function and with the Central Scope function that allows the entire system to be visualized from a business standpoint. The Central Scope includes a visual monitoring window that allows the entire enterprise system to be visualized from a business standpoint, thereby allowing for the intuitive monitoring of large-scale, complex systems.

JP1/IM provides two methods for monitoring Performance Management. You can select the method that best matches the item being monitored and your goals. Their respective features are as follows:

• Monitoring by using the Central Console

  A console window is used for monitoring JP1 events occurring in the system subject to monitoring (monitoring agent). This method enables JP1 event filtering, and event searches.

• Monitoring by using the Central Scope

  A visual-display window is used for monitoring JP1 events occurring in the monitoring agent. For example, you can effectively visualize the entire system by grouping events by operation or organization, or by grouping by business units across the country or data center layout.

In addition, by linking with JP1/IM2, you can use the REST API of JP1/IM2 to obtain performance data of Performance Management.

Furthermore, linking with JP1/IM2 version 12-10 or later allows you to perform the following operations:

• Operation monitoring of the objects monitored by Performance Management by using the Integrated Operation Viewer of JP1/IM2

  By using the PFM - Web Console window integrated with the Integrated Operation Viewer of JP1/IM2, you can check the status of all objects monitored by Performance Management, including the statuses of the following items managed by JP1/IM2: operating status of the Performance Management server, operating status of agents, and alarm status of agents.

• Acquiring trend information of Performance Management by using a REST API provided by JP1/IM2

  By using the REST APIs provided by JP1/IM2, you can acquire trend information of Performance Management displayed on the Integrated Operation Viewer of JP1/IM2.
