G.2 Compatibility among data model versions

In PFM - Agent, data model versions as well as product versions exist.

When PFM - Agent is upgraded, the data model might be upgraded as well. The report definitions and alarm definitions defined in the old version can be used in a new data model version, because the data model ensures forward compatibility.

For details about data model versions for an Agent, see the description of version compatibility in an appendix of each PFM - Agent manual.

The following describes version compatibility using the example when the version 4.0 of the data model mixes with version 6.0 of the data model.

Organization of this subsection

(1) When displaying reports

An Agent defined in data model version 4.0 or 6.0 can display a report defined in data model version 4.0. Only an Agent defined in data model version 6.0 can display a report defined in data model version 6.0.

(2) When binding the alarm table

An Agent defined in data model version 4.0 or 6.0 can display an alarm table defined in data model version 4.0. Only an Agent defined in data model version 6.0 can display an alarm table defined in data model version 6.0.

(3) When associating a drilldown report with a report

An Agent defined in data model version 4.0 or 6.0 can display a drilldown report defined in data model version 4.0. Only an Agent defined in data model version 6.0 can display a drilldown report defined in data model version 6.0.

(4) When associating a report with an alarm

An alarm defined in data model version 4.0 or 6.0 can be associated with a report defined in data model version 4.0. Only an alarm defined in data model version 6.0 can be associated with a report defined in data model version 6.0.
