JP1 Version 12 JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide

5.3.2 Changing the PFM - Manager for the connection destination

This subsection describes how to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination after the Performance Management system is configured.

For details about how to start and stop services, see the chapter that describes stopping Performance Management in the JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Setting procedure on the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM [Figure]

Use the jpcconf mgrhost define command to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM.

If you installed PFM - Agent or PFM - RM on the same host as PFM - Manager, or if you set PFM - Manager for the connection destination during the installation of PFM - Base, this step is unnecessary.

Notes:
  • Except for the case of multiple monitoring, only one PFM - Manager can be set as the connection destination on a single monitoring agent. Therefore, if multiple instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM are installed on the same monitoring agent, you cannot set a different instance of PFM - Manager as the connection destination for each instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM. For details about multiple monitoring, see the chapter that describes multiple monitoring in the JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.

  • If PFM - Agent or PFM - RM and PFM - Manager are installed on the same host, PFM - Manager for the connection destination is set to PFM - Manager on the local host (unless multiple monitoring is used). In such cases, you cannot change PFM - Manager for the connection destination to that of one on the remote host. For details about multiple monitoring, see the chapter that describes multiple monitoring in the JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.

  • Before you attempt to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination, stop all Performance Management programs and services running on the local host.

  • If the version of PFM - Base is 09-00 or later and you have installed PFM - Agent or PFM - RM, without setting PFM - Manager for the connection destination, you must change PFM - Manager for the connection destination.

To change the PFM - Manager for the connection destination of PFM - Agent:

  1. Stop Performance Management programs and services.

Stop all Performance Management programs and services that are running. Use the jpcspm stop command to stop services.

    jpcspm stop -key jp1pc
  2. Change PFM - Manager for the connection destination.

Use the jpcconf mgrhost define command to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination. For example, if you wish to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination to PFM - Manager on the host host02, specify as follows:

    jpcconf mgrhost define -host host02

This example executes the jpcconf mgrhost define command in the interactive mode. You can execute this command also in the non-interactive mode. For details about the jpcconf mgrhost define command, see the chapter that describes commands in the manual JP1/Performance Management Reference.

  3. After the change, make sure that PFM - Manager for the new connection destination is running.

  4. Restart the Performance Management programs and services on the PFM - Agent host or PFM - RM host.

In addition, in PFM - Manager for the connection destination before the change, delete all service information of the Performance Management programs to which the host name of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM is added. For details about how to delete service information, see 5.2.3 Deleting service information.

(2) Procedure on the PFM - Web Console host

Change the information in the Windows initialization file (config.xml) to change PFM - Manager for the connection destination. For details, see the chapter that describes definition files in the manual JP1/Performance Management Reference.
