4.4.1 Setting the size of the log file for the common message log

Common message logs are output in PFM - Manager, PFM - Base, PFM - Agent, and PFM - RM. The common message log file uses by default two 8,192-KB files. This setting is required only when you wish to change the common message log file size.

Directly edit the content of the jpccomm.ini file to change the file size. The jpccomm.ini file is stored in the following locations:

On physical hosts:
In Windows:

installation-folder

On logical hosts:
In Windows:

environment-directory\jp1pc\

The following table lists and describes the label name to be edited and the range of values that can be set in the jpccomm.ini file.

For a new installation, the size is 8,192 kilobytes. For an upgrade installation, the value set prior to upgrading is used.

To change the size of the common message log file:

  1. Stop Performance Management programs and services.

    Stop all Performance Management programs and services that are running.

  2. Use a text editor or a similar tool to open the jpccomm.ini file.

  3. Change the size of the common message log file.

    Correct the shaded parts indicated below:

    Notes:

    • Do not enter spaces at the beginning of the coding, or before and after the equals sign (=).

    • The jpccomm.ini file contains the definition information besides the common message log file size. Change values only for Common Msglog Size in the Common Section section. Performance Management might not operate correctly if you change values other than the required items.

  4. Save and then close the jpccomm.ini file.

Notes:

You need to make the settings the same for the common message log file in all Performance Management programs running on the same host.
