-
Continue using the PFM - Web Console window.
-
For details about settings for other add-ons, see the help for the corresponding add-on.
The following settings are required only if you are using encrypted communication (connecting to a URL in which the login screen begins with https) between a web browser and the monitoring console server:
-
Enable TLS communication (for Internet Explorer only).
-
If a root certificate (from a certificate authority that issued the server certificate) has not been imported, import it.
-
If you are using a self-signed certificate for a testing purpose, import the self-signed certificate.
-
If a host name in the FQDN format is specified for Common Name in the certificate signing request file, configure the settings so that name resolution is possible between the host on which the web browser is running and PFM - Web Console, using PFM-Web-Console-host-name and domain-name. If a proxy server is set for the browser, configure the settings so that name resolution is possible from the proxy server.
The following tables list the settings for each browser.
Note that the names of the settings or their locations may vary depending on the Web browser or the OS version used.

(4) Notes on using a Web browser
(a) Notes common to all Web browsers
-
Do not display a PFM - Web Console window by using an operation that restores the browser's previous viewing session. If you do so, you might not be able to display or perform operations in the window normally.
- Example: When using Internet Explorer
-
If you perform the following operation to display a PFM - Web Console window, you might not be able to display or perform operations in the window normally.
- Reopen closed tabs
- Reopen last session
- tools-Reopen last browsing session
-
When an error occurs in a browser or tab, some browsers restore the display to the screen that was displayed right before the error occurred. If a PFM - Web Console window is restored by such a function, the window might not be displayed normally, or operations in these windows might not be performed normally.
- Example: When using Internet Explorer
-
If the browser terminates abnormally and is then restarted, a dialog box appears stating the message "Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly.", with a Restore session button.
In this case, close the dialog box instead of clicking Restore session, and then log in to PFM - Web Console again. When a tab terminates abnormally, and a window other than the PFM - Web Console login window is displayed, close the browser and then log in again.
-
Due to the effects of the Web browser's add-ons, the window might not be displayed properly. If this problem occurs, disable the add-on settings, and then try again.
-
If you perform PFM - Web Console operations from multiple browser windows that share the same session, a problem might occur in the displayed information or during operation.
Recovery method
Close all browser windows. Then, open a browser window, and log in again.
Workaround
- If your Web browser is Internet Explorer
Start Internet Explorer by using one of the following methods:
Do not start Internet Explorer from the Start menu. Doing so enables session sharing.
-
Start another session from the current browser.
From the menu bar of the browser, select Files, and then New Sessions.
-
Create a shortcut file, and then start the browser with session sharing disabled.
1. Copy a shortcut file in any place you want.
2. Open the properties dialog box of the shortcut file, and then specify the following in the Link to text box.
"Internet-Explorer-installation-folder\iexplore.exe" -noframemerging URL-of-the-Web-Console-login-window
3. If you want to perform duplicate login, start Internet Explorer via the above shortcut.
If the integrated management product (JP1/IM) is linked, to prevent the browser session from being shared specify the following:
the sample file is stored in the following directory:
/opt/jp1pcwebcon/sample/imconf
-
When starting the browser by using the monitor
[Definition file name]
hitachi_jp1_pfmwebcon_mon_ja.conf (For a Japanese environment)
hitachi_jp1_pfmwebcon_mon_en.conf (For an English environment)
[Parameter]
path
[Definition contents]
path="-noframemerging URL-of-the-PFM-Web-Console-login-window"
Example: When not using encrypted communication
path="-noframemerging http://PFM-Webcon1:20358/PFMWebConsole/login.do?"
-
When starting the browser from the integrated monitoring menu
[Definition file name]
hitachi_jp1_pfmwebcon_tree.conf
[Parameter]
arguments
[Definition contents]
arguments="-noframemerging URL-of-the-PFM-Web-Console-login-window"
Example: When not using encrypted communication
arguments="-noframemerging http://PFM-Webcon1:20358/PFMWebConsole/login.do?"
For details about the functions for linking with integrated management products (JP1/IM), see the chapters that describe linking with integrated management puroducts (JP1/IM) for operation monitoring in the manual JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.
- - If your Web browser is Firefox
-
Example: Firefox ESR 68
Open multiple browser windows as separate processes. To open a browser window as a separate process, create a profile in advance, and then execute the start command firefox with the option -no-remote -p, and in the displayed dialog box, select a profile and start the browser. You can create a profile as follows:
1. Type about:profiles into the address bar of the browser and press Enter. The window used to manage profiles appears.
2. Click the Create Profile button to display the Create Profile Wizard window.
3. Click the Next button, and then in the displayed window, specify the name of the profile, user settings, and the location to which to save data, and click the Finish button.
- - If your Web browser is Google Chrome
-
Example: Google Chrome 78
1. From the user icon displayed in the upper right corner of the browser, select Manage people to display a user management window.
2. Click the Add person button. With the Create a desktop shortcut for this user check box selected in the displayed window, click the Add button, and then create a shortcut to the new user.
3. If you want to perform duplicate login, perform one of the following operations:
- Start Google Chrome via the shortcut you created in step 2.
- In the upper right corner of the browser, select the icon representing the user you added in step 2.
-
-
PFM - Web Console does not support touch panel operations. If you are using this product in a web browser, use mouse or keyboard operations.
(b) Notes on Internet Explorer
-
If you open a new browser window, the opened window may not display as the front most window, depending on the browser specification. In this case, click the taskbar button flashing in the taskbar, and continue operation in the front most opened window.
-
If Every visit to the page is set in the Temporary Internet files settings, the browser might be unable to refresh the window because too many requests to process are generated. In this case, we recommend that you select Automatically in the Temporary Internet files settings for Internet Explorer on the computer that runs PFM - Web Console.
You can set Temporary Internet files to Automatically as follows:
-
From the menu bar, select Tool - Internet Options to display the Internet Options window.
-
On the General tab of the Internet Options window, click the Settings button under Browsing history to display the Website Data Settings window.
-
On the Temporary Internet files tab of the Website Data Settings window, select Automatically under Check for newer versions of stored pages.
-
-
If the length of the line to be displayed on the monitoring console exceeds 4,000 characters, the text after the 4,000th character might not be displayed correctly.
-
Using the clear button to delete a character string in a text box might result in an incorrect display or operation error.
-
If you are logged in as the built-in Administrator, new browser windows might be displayed as a new tab or a blank window depending on the browser settings. In this case, you must log in as a user other than the builtin Administrator but with administrator privileges.
-
PFM - Web Console supports Internet Explorer browsers that use the Desktop UI, but does not support Internet Explorer browsers that use the Modern UI.
(c) Notes on Firefox
-
Data might remain in the cache due to the specifications of Firefox, resulting in incorrect display of image data. According to the version of Firefox, perform the following procedure to set caches to be deleted:
-
In Tools (or the menu button (three-bar button) in the upper right corner of the browser), select Options to display the Options window.
-
In the Options window, select Privacy & Security tab, History, then finally Firefox will Use custom settings for history. Check the Clear history when Firefox closes checkbox, and press the Settings button to display the Settings for Clearing History window.
-
On the Settings for Clearing History window, check History, then Cache, and press the OK button.
-
-
Sometimes, you cannot close the window by clicking the Close button or Close anchor. If this problem occurs, close the window by using the function to close the browser.
-
If you enable the password saving function, the Save Password Change dialog box might appear in the following window operations:
-
Change Password window started from the Main window
-
New User window of the Users window
-
Copy window of the Users window
-
Edit window of the Users window
In any of the above cases, close the dialog box, for example by clicking Yes, and continue the operation. On these windows, you cannot use passwords previously saved in the browser.
-
-
If you display a PDF manual from the Help window, the window display might be corrupted or characters appear might be garbled. If this problem occurs, change the browser settings so that PDF files are not displayed in the PDF viewer that was provided with the browser.
-
In Tools (or the menu button (three-bar button) in the upper right corner of the browser), select Options to display the Options window.
-
In the Options window, select General tab, and go to Applications. From the list box to the right of Portable Document Format (PDF), select Use other. The Select Helper Application window appears.
-
In the Select Helper Application window, select a program to be used to display a PDF file from a list of programs, and click the OK button.
-
(d) Notes on Google Chrome
-
Due to the specifications of the browser, the button used to select a file reads Choose File instead of Browse. The operation triggered by clicking this button is the same as that triggered by clicking the Browse button in other browsers.
-
Sometimes, you cannot close the window by clicking the Close button or Close anchor. If this problem occurs, close the window by using the function to close the browser.
