3.9.4 Settings to limit the host subject to command processing

PFM - Base provides commands for manipulating other PFM - Manager, PFM - Agent, and PFM - RM hosts. For security reasons, it might not be advisable to manipulate one agent host from another. In such a case, you can specify options to prohibit operations between agent hosts and to limit the target of operations only to the local agent host. If you do not wish to allow one agent host to manipulate another agent host, evaluate whether to enable the following options:

The following table lists and describes the target commands for each option and the limitations that are applied when the options are enabled.

Option

Target commands

Limitations

Option for limiting remote operation of Agent hosts

  • jpcras

  • jpctool db backup

  • jpctool db dump

  • jpctool service list (without the -stat option)

When any target command is executed on the agent host, this option prevents that command from being executed on any other agent host. Even when this option is enabled, any target command that is executed on the PFM - Manager host is executable on all hosts.

Option for restricting viewing of service information from Agent hosts

jpctool service list (with the -stat option)

When a target command is executed, information about any remote host for which this option is enabled is not displayed.

For details about how to specify the settings, see 4.4.12 Specifying the option for limiting remote operation of Agent hosts and the option for restricting viewing of service information from Agent hosts (in Windows) or 5.4.11 Specifying the option for limiting remote operation of Agent hosts and the option for restricting viewing of service information from Agent hosts (in UNIX).
