3.1.1 Overview of services
Performance Management monitors operations of the monitoring agents by executing processes that have various functions. A process performed by the functions that comprise the Performance Management program is called a service.
|
You can check properties and the status of services in the monitoring console by selecting the Services window of PFM - Web Console. You can also stop services.
- Organization of this subsection
(1) Service types
The following table lists and describes the functions and names of the Performance Management services. Performance Management services have service IDs in addition to the service names described in the table. The system uses service IDs to execute commands and to display in the monitoring console. For details about service IDs, see B.1 Naming rules for service IDs and service keys.

(2) Starting instances
Some PFM - Agent or PFM - RM products can monitor every instance# of a target program.

The term instance has two meanings in this manual. For details, see instance in Appendix L. Glossary.
For example, PFM - Agent for Oracle monitors each Oracle instance with an SID. In such cases, you need to construct an instance environment to run PFM - Agent services with multiple instances.

For details about the possibility of instance-based monitoring, and how to construct an instance environment, see the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM manual.
