JP1 Version 12 JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide

2.3.1 Examining the system configuration of Performance Management

The system administrator examines what system configuration is to be used when constructing the operation monitoring system. Performance Management can be used to configure the system by adding required PFM - Agents depending on the items being monitored, or by installing PFM - RM, if remote monitoring is necessary. This enables the system to be flexibly expanded to match the operating conditions, such as an increase in the number of users on the system or an increase in the load on the system.

Point:

You can configure an operation monitoring system by installing all of the Performance Management programs on one of the systems that is to be monitored.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Example of the basic system configuration

If the operation of databases and business applications is to be monitored, a system can be configured so that one monitoring manager can perform integrated management of multiple monitoring agents. In order to monitor multiple systems with a single monitoring host, you can also add PFM - RM to the system configuration.

(2) Example of a system configuration when other products are linked

By checking performance data collected with Performance Management from JP1/AJS3, JP1/IM, or JP1/SLM, you can monitor operation statuses for your entire operation. The following figure shows an example of the configuration of a large-scale system that uses JP1/IM.

Point:

When using Performance Management, the number of PFM - Agents, PFM - RM, and PFM - Web Consoles that can be connected to one PFM - Manager differs depending on the system configuration. Consider this number and then design an appropriate system configuration. For details about the limits, see Appendix A. Limits. In addition, whether there is enough functionality, such as the amount of memory of the computers in use, must also be considered. For details about system estimates for Performance Management, see Appendix C. System Estimates.
