JP1 Version 12 JP1/Base User's Guide

J.1 Settings for individual products that use JP1/SES events

Organization of this subsection

(1) To use JP1/OJE or JP1/Console Agent for VOS1 or VOS K, or to use the VOS K data linkage function

(a) To use a client product

Specify the following settings on the host that runs JP1/Base:

  • From the event server settings file (conf), delete the options v5-unused parameter, which suppresses V5 compatibilities.

  • In the services file, define a TCP port with the service name JP1AutoJob.

For details about defining a TCP port, see C.1 Port numbers for JP1/Base.

The following shows a definition example:

    JP1AutoJob 5001/tcp # JP1/AutoJob Event Service

Make sure that the port number (5001) is the same as the port number set for the connection destination.

(b) To use an event sending function

For JP1/OJE in VOS1 or VOS K to send events to a host that runs JP1/Base, in the JP1/Base, specify the same settings as those in (a) To use a client product. For a client that runs JP1/Base for UNIX, specify jesrd as the service name in the services file.

(c) To use an event receiving function

For JP1/OJE in VOS1 or VOS K to receive events from a host that runs JP1/Base, specify the following settings in the JP1/Base:

  • From the event server settings file (conf), delete the options v5-unused parameter, which suppresses V5 compatibilities.

  • For the remote-server parameter in the event server settings file (conf), specify the VOS1 or VOS K host name as the event server name and ses as the communication type.

  • In the services file, define a TCP port with the service name JP1AutoJob or jesrd.

For details about defining a TCP port, see C.1 Port numbers for JP1/Base.

    The following shows definition examples:

    In Windows:

    JP1AutoJob 5001/tcp # JP1/AutoJob Event Service

    In UNIX:

    jesrd 5001/tcp # JP1/SES remote management server

Make sure that the port number (5001) is the same as the port number set for the connection destination.

(2) To use JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS

(a) To use a client product via the SES communication protocol

The description in this subsection applies when you set the SES communication protocol for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS and use the job execution function of the event sending and receiving function. In this case, to use a JP1/OJE client product on a host that runs JP1/Base, specify the same settings as those in (1)(a) To use a client product. Note that you do not need to specify these settings if the IM communication protocol is set for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS or if the batch job linkage function is used with JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS.

Note that V5 compatibilities might be discontinued in the future. Therefore, we recommend that you set the IM communication protocol or use the batch job linkage function, if possible.

(b) To use an event sending function

The description in this subsection applies when you set the SES communication protocol for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS and send events from the JP1/OJE to a host that runs JP1/Base. In this case, specify the same settings as those in (1)(b) To use an event sending function. Note that if the IM communication protocol is set for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS, you do not need to specify these settings.

Note that V5 compatibilities might be discontinued in the future. Therefore, we recommend that you set the IM communication protocol, if possible.

(c) To use an event receiving function

The description in this subsection applies when you set the SES communication protocol for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS and want the JP1/OJE to receive events from a host that runs JP1/Base. In this case, specify the same settings as those in (1)(c) To use an event receiving function. Note that you do not need to specify these settings if the IM communication protocol is set for JP1/OJE in VOS3 or MVS.

Note that V5 compatibilities might be discontinued in the future. Therefore, we recommend that you set the IM communication protocol, if possible.

(3) Using HiRDB

(a) Using the event notification function

If the pd_jp1_event_level operand is set to 1, specify the same settings as those in (1)(a) To use a client product. You do not need to specify these settings if the operand is set to 2.

V5 compatibility might be discontinued in the future. If the environment permits it, we recommend setting the pd_jp1_event_level operand to be set to 2.

(4) Using the ajsevput command

Specify the same settings as those in (1)(a) To use a client product.

The ajsevput command might be discontinued in the future. We recommend migrating to an environment that uses the JP1/Base jevsend or jevsendd command.

(5) Using the ajsevget command

Specify the same settings as those in (1)(a) To use a client product.

The ajsevget command might be discontinued in the future. We recommend migrating to an environment utilizing a user program that uses the JP1/Base event acquisition function.
