1.3.1 Integrated system management with the Intelligent Integrated Management Base

JP1/IM - Manager provides integrated management of many different kinds of data managed by the systems in a company as well as its relevance and knowledge through the base (Intelligent Integrated Management Base).

The Intelligent Integrated Management Base is used to collect operational data from multiple systems and utilize it to optimize IT operations. With use of a dedicated viewer (integrated operation viewer), you can view how system components are working at a glance on a component basis. By integrating operations of the entire systems, the integrated operation viewer allows you to view information regarding all linked JP1 products and operate them.

For example, if JP1/IM - Manager links with JP1/AJS, a system administrator can view the preceding and following root jobnets for a certain root jobnet. In addition, the administrator can see which job group a root jobnet is in because root jobnet names are displayed, allowing him or her to understand the connectivity between root jobnets configured on more than one JP1/AJS - Manager. JP1/AJS checks for signs of operational faults and warns JP1/IM of possible abnormalities, so that information such as the time at which the job following the root jobnet in which an abnormality was detected is scheduled to start and how the abnormality might affect job operations can be immediately displayed by the integrated operation viewer, allowing the system administrator to deal with it before it can cause a serious operational fault.

Because the integrated operation viewer displays the correlation between related performance information items (trends), you can keep track of the statuses of related performance information items such as job execution and OS resource status, enabling prompt isolation of the cause in the event of a failure. Furthermore, the Intelligent Integrated Management Base suggests optimal actions that can be taken to address any abnormalities that have occurred in the system. This allows system operators to take the optimal action that is based on the operational rules and past operational records by simply following the suggestions displayed on the screen.

These features allow for improving efficiency in non-routine tasks in IT operations and getting rid of the culture of dependence on personal skills.
