6.7.5 Number of bytes of API arguments

The number of bytes that can be used for API arguments depends on the connection-target JP1/AJS3 - Manager.

If JP1/AJS3 - Manager is running in a UNIX environment and UTF-8 is used for the character encoding, the number of characters that can be specified becomes fewer than when Shift-JIS is used for character encoding. However, you can change the number of characters that can be specified (for example, for the unit name) in the UTF-8 environment. If you specify sjis for the DEFLENTYPE environment setting parameter, you can use the same number of characters as can be used in the Shift-JIS environment. For details about the setting for changing the number of characters that can be specified for the unit name in the UNIX UTF-8 environment, see 15.1.10 Setting for changing the number of characters specifiable for a unit name in a UTF-8 environment in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Configuration Guide.
