A.1 Version compatibility with JP1/AJS3 - Manager

This section describes version compatibility of JP1/AJS3 - View and JP1/AJS3 - Manager. Note that when you connect JP1/AJS3 - View to JP1/AJS3 - Manager without an embedded database (the scheduler database is ISAM), the available functions are equivalent to those in JP1/AJS2 - Manager 08-50.

Organization of this subsection

(1) When the version of JP1/AJS3 - View is older than the version of the JP1/AJS3 - Manager

When the version of JP1/AJS3 - View is older than the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager, the available functions are equivalent to those in the version of JP1/AJS3 - View. You cannot use functions or manipulate definitions that are supported only in later versions of JP1/AJS3 - View. Note, however, that the functions in version 11-50 of JP1/AJS3 - Manager are supported in version 11-10 of JP1/AJS3 - View.

Version compatibility of units:

If a unit supported by a JP1/AJS3 - View version later than the version of JP1/AJS3 - View being used is defined in JP1/AJS3 - Manager, that unit is displayed with the unknown-type icon or the icon of the base unit. An attempt to operate the unknown-type icon fails and results in display of an error message. You can operate the icon of the base unit as is.

Version compatibility of detailed definitions:

There is a case where a problem is caused by a detailed definition item that is supported by a JP1/AJS3 - View version later than the version of JP1/AJS3 - View being used. If such a detailed definition item is defined in JP1/AJS3 - Manager, the Define Details dialog box might not be displayed, depending on the item type.

When the Define Details dialog box appears, the detailed definition items that are supported only in later versions of JP1/AJS3 - View are not displayed. Also note that if you change the value of a detailed definition item, the values of the detailed definition items that are supported only in later versions of JP1/AJS3 - View might change.

Version compatibility of schedule definitions:

There is a case where a problem is caused by a schedule definition item that is supported by a JP1/AJS3 - View version later than the version of JP1/AJS3 - View being used. If such a schedule definition item is defined in JP1/AJS3 - Manager, the Define Details dialog box might not be displayed, depending on the item type.

There is also a case where an error is caused by a schedule definition item that is supported by a JP1/AJS3 - View version later than the version of JP1/AJS3 - View being used. If such a schedule definition item is being used by the upper-level jobnet and the Copy Upper button is clicked in the Schedule Settings dialog box, an error occurs.

For details about version compatibility of JP1/AJS3 - View and JP1/AJS3 - Manager, see 8.1.2 Version compatibility between JP1/AJS3 - Manager and JP1/AJS3 - View in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 System Design (Configuration) Guide.

(2) When the version of JP1/AJS3 - View is newer than the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager

When the version of JP1/AJS3 - View is newer than the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager, the available functions are equivalent to those of the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager.

JP1/AJS3 - View displays only items supported by the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager you are using. If you try to display a window or item that is supported only in later versions of JP1/AJS3 - Manager, one of the following occurs:
