8.3 Monitoring the progress

This section describes how to check the progress of root jobnets, root remote jobnets, or planning groups on a monitoring day.

To check the progress:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Summary Monitor.

    Summary Monitor is now selected.

The JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window) appears.

  2. Click the Setting button.

The Monitoring Unit Select dialog box appears.

  3. In the Monitoring Unit Select dialog box, in Selectable units, click the plus sign (+) on the left of the job group that manages the jobnet whose progress you want to check.

The jobnets under the job group appear.

  4. Select a monitored jobnet, and then click the Add button.

The jobnet is displayed in Monitored units. You can add a jobnet that belongs to a different scheduler service or a different level. When you select a job group and click the Add button, the jobnets and planning groups immediately below the selected job group appear in Monitored units.

  5. Click the OK button.

The Monitoring Unit Select dialog box closes.

In the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window), the summary list displays the information about the selected jobnet.

  6. In the summary list, check the progress of the jobnet.

The following explains the information that appears in the summary list columns.

    End time (schd.)

The End time (schd.) column displays the scheduled end date and time, which is calculated based on the preceding and succeeding relations of the subordinate units and the average of past execution times. A simulation is performed to determine the scheduled end date and time.

To calculate the scheduled end date and time for a jobnet that has never ended normally, the system uses the time specified in First execution time in Execution time on the Schedule page of the Preferences dialog box. For details about how to specify a value in First execution time in the Preferences dialog box, see 11.4.13 Specifying the first execution time.

If multiple generations are scheduled to be executed on a monitoring day, a simulation is performed for each generation. The End time (schd.) column in this case displays the simulated scheduled end date and time that is furthest into the future.

Note that these simulations do not take into account the execution time of a jobnet connected to a jobnet connector, the hold time of a jobnet, and the delay for an execution generation whose start condition has been established. Also note that the simulation for determining the scheduled end date and time of a release-target jobnet does not inherit any information about the release-source jobnet.

    Progress

The progress (in %) is calculated as follows:

Progress = (Number of all units that have ended) / (Number of units to be executed on the monitoring day) x 100

Number of all units that have ended means the number of executed units appearing in the Result/Schedule column. Number of units to be executed on the monitoring day means the number of units that are scheduled to be executed, as indicated in the Result/Schedule column.

You can select the unit status that determines ended from the Progress drop-down list.

When multiple generations are scheduled to be executed on the monitoring day, the progress is calculated based on the number of all generations that are scheduled to be executed.

    Status category

The status category columns indicate the status categories of subordinate units.

When multiple generations are scheduled to be executed on the monitoring day, the column displays the status categories of all the generations.

For details about the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window) and the basics of how to use the window, also see 4.2 Window types and basic operations.

Cautionary notes
  • If you want to specify a day other the day that JP1/AJS3 - View starts as the monitoring day, specify a date in the Day for Monitor boxes. However, if automatic update is performed while you are changing the monitoring day, the summary list might display information for an unexpected day. To prevent this problem, before you change the monitoring day, select the Pause of automatic update check box beforehand to temporarily stop automatic update.

  • If the root jobnet or planning group to be monitored contains a unit for which you do not have access permission, the system removes the root jobnet or planning group from the monitoring targets. To prevent this problem, obtain view permission for the unit to be monitored and all the subordinate units.

Supplementary notes
  • If you frequently update the window, server load increases rapidly. To reduce load, select the Pause of automatic update check box to temporarily stop automatic update.

  • You can specify a maximum of 100 units as monitoring targets. You can also change this value. For details about how to change the maximum number, see 11.4.14 Changing the maximum number of units to be monitored.

  • If you suspend a monitored root jobnet, add a unit under it or delete a unit from it, the added or deleted unit is not monitored.

  • You can upload the information about the units added to the summary list to the common user profiles for use as the common settings for JP1 users. JP1 users can download the common user profiles. For details about common user profiles, see 11.1.2 Using common user profiles.
