5.2.6 Assigning wait conditions

You can assign wait conditions to the jobs and jobnets you defined.

To assign a wait condition:

  1. In the map area of the Jobnet Editor window, display a jobnet that meets either of the following conditions:

If the unit to which you are assigning a wait condition is a jobnet:

Display the jobnet to which you want to assign a wait condition.

If the unit to which you are assigning a wait condition is not a jobnet:

Display the jobnet that contains the unit to which you want to assign a wait condition.

    Cautionary note

For details about the units that are capable of accepting wait conditions, see 2.2.5 Using wait conditions to control the order of unit execution in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 System Design (Work Tasks) Guide.

  2. Select the Exclusive edit check box.

  3. Click the icon for the unit to which you want to assign a wait condition. If the unit is a jobnet, click the jobnet in the tree area.

The icon or jobnet you clicked is now selected.

  4. From the Edit menu, choose Waiting Conditions Settings.

The Waiting Condition Settings dialog box appears.

  5. Define the wait conditions.

Define the wait conditions in the Waiting Condition Settings dialog box.

    Cautionary notes

When designating a unit other than a root jobnet that is in a planning group as a unit whose end is to be waited for, specify the name of the unit without the root jobnet name.

For example, to specify jobnet/job1 in planning group plangr as a unit whose end is to be waited for, specify plangr/job1 rather than plangr/jobnet/job1.

  6. Click the OK button.

The Waiting Condition Settings dialog box closes, and the wait condition is assigned to the unit selected in step 3.

If you selected an icon in step 3, the letter W appears in the icon.

  7. As necessary, select a jobnet in the tree area, map area, or list area of the Jobnet Editor window, and from the View menu, choose Wait Conditions Settings List.

The Wait Conditions Settings List window appears.

In this window, you can check whether the unit whose end is being waited for is defined correctly, and check the definitions of wait conditions.

For details about the Wait Conditions Settings List window, see 12.11 Wait Conditions Settings List window.

Cautionary note

A setup process is required before you can use wait conditions. If you do not perform the necessary steps, you will be able define wait conditions, but units with wait conditions will terminate abnormally upon execution.

For details about the setup for wait conditions, see 6.1.8 Settings for using wait conditions in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Configuration Guide.

Supplementary note

Specify units whose ends are to be waited for by their full path name. If you define and test units on a development host before copying them to the production host, there is no need to amend the paths of the units whose ends are to be waited for on the production host, provided that the jobnet hierarchy is the same on both hosts.
