11.1 Disaster recovery in JP1/AJS3

JP1/AJS3 can prepare for an unexpected event like a large-scale disaster by creating an environment equivalent to the one in daily use in a remote location, and copying the contents of the regularly updated shared disk to its counterpart in the remote location. The disk copying process uses the copy and mirroring functions of the hardware.

The following figure shows an overview of disaster recovery operation in JP1/AJS3.

Figure 11‒1: Overview of JP1/AJS3 disaster recovery operation

[Figure]

In JP1/AJS3 disaster recovery, the site in daily use is called the main site, and the site prepared in case of disaster is called the remote site.

The process involves creating systems with equivalent environments at the main site and the remote site, and using the disk copy and mirroring functionality of the hardware to copy the contents of the shared disk used by the logical host at the main site to the shared disk at the remote site. The shared disk at the main site is called the main volume, and the shared disk at the remote site is called the remote volume.
