JP1 Version 12 JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Overview

1.1.3 GUI-based definition and monitoring

In JP1/AJS3, you can define and monitor applications visually using the GUI. Application definition and execution, status monitoring and checking of execution results can all be performed from the windows on a single host, even if the manager host and agent hosts are in different locations.

JP1/AJS3 provides two GUI functionalities: JP1/AJS3 - View and the Web GUI of JP1/AJS3 - Web Console.

JP1/AJS3 - View is a program that allows users to perform a variety of jobnet-related operations, such as definition, execution, and monitoring.

The Web GUI is a program mainly used to execute and monitor jobnets. You cannot define jobnets or jobs with the Web GUI. To define jobnets or jobs, use JP1/AJS3 - View or JP1/AJS3 - Definition Assistant.

You can define applications by dragging and dropping icons, using the intuitive interface in JP1/AJS3 - View.

The following figure shows an example of defining an application using the JP1/AJS3 - View.

When you register an application, the execution schedule appears in the GUI. Once the application starts, its execution status and results appear. Color-coding is used to represent the application's changing status, so you immediately notice any errors or problems.

The following figure shows an example of monitoring execution status using the JP1/AJS3 - View.

The Web GUI enables you to monitor the progress and execution statuses of applications by using a web browser from an external network. For example, you can check for problems with specific applications while you are away from your office, or monitor JP1/AJS3 applications that are built into a cloud environment.

The following figure shows an example of monitoring applications by using the Web GUI.

JP1/AJS3 - View and the Web GUI differ from each other in features and role. Understand their differences, and use them appropriately for your purposes. For details about the differences between JP1/AJS3 - View and the Web GUI, see 6.5 Features of and differences between jobnet monitoring programs.
