2.4.2 Installing JP1/AJS3 - Agent

Install JP1/AJS3 - Agent on the agent host.

Prerequisites

• Make sure that the OS of the agent host is a prerequisite OS of JP1/AJS3 - Agent.

• Log in to the agent host as an OS user with superuser privileges.

Procedure

1. Terminate all JP1 programs.

2. For the value of the environment variable LANG, specify the character encoding to be used when running JP1.

   The following is an example of specifying ASCII as the character encoding.

   Example: export LANG=C

3. Insert the distribution media into the drive.

4. Execute the following command to mount the distribution media:

   /bin/mount -t iso9660 -r device-special-file-name /mnt/dvdrom

   In the above command, /mnt/dvdrom is specified as the mount-point directory name. However, the mount-point directory name changes according to the environment. For details about how to mount the distribution media, see the documentation for the OS.

   If the distribution media is automatically mounted, skip this step.

5. Execute the following command to install and start the Hitachi Program Product Installer:

   /mnt/dvdrom/linux/setup /mnt/dvdrom

   Note that you need to replace /mnt/dvdrom with the mount-point directory name of the distribution media you use. If the distribution media is automatically mounted, replace /mnt/dvdrom with the device special name.

   When the Hitachi Program Product Installer starts, the following initial window appears:

   

6. In the initial widow of the Hitachi Program Product Installer, enter L to display a list of software programs.

7. In the list of software programs, move the cursor to JP1/AJS3 - Agent, and then press the space bar to select it.

8. In the Hitachi Program Product Installer window, enter I to start installation of JP1/AJS3 - Agent.

9. After installation is completed, enter Q to return to the initial window.

10. Terminate the Hitachi Program Product Installer.

11. Specify the JP1/AJS3 - Agent automated startup script so that JP1/AJS3 - Agent automatically starts when the system starts.

    Use a text editor such as vi to open the /etc/opt/jp1ajs2/jajs_start file, and then delete : # at the beginning of the line indicating /opt/jp1ajs2/bin/jajs_spmd.

    Before the change

    : # /opt/jp1ajs2/bin/jajs_spmd >/dev/null 2>/dev/null

    After the change

    /opt/jp1ajs2/bin/jajs_spmd >/dev/null 2>/dev/null

Result

JP1/AJS3 - Agent is installed on the agent host.

JP1/AJS3 - Agent now automatically starts when the system starts.

Postrequisites

Make sure that the services are running.
