6.3.2 Notes on automatic ID group maintenance
The following cautionary notes apply when performing automatic ID group maintenance:

You cannot assign the same policy more than once.

Computers are automatically registered in ID groups during automatic ID group maintenance, regardless of whether the ID group is protected by a password.

Relay systems and management relay servers are not subject to automatic ID group maintenance. To register a relay system in an ID group, you need to do so manually.

ID group jobs are executed when the computer registered in the ID group next establishes a connection with the higher system. If automatic ID group maintenance takes place after you execute an ID group job, the computers will be automatically registered in the ID group. However, the timing with which the ID group job is executed will differ for each computer.

When you delete an ID group, the policies specified for that ID group are automatically deleted. However, if the ID group is deleted from another instance of Remote Install Manager while you are assigning a policy, that policy will not be automatically deleted. In this scenario, you need to delete the policy or change the ID group specified for the policy. Such policies are outside the scope of automatic maintenance because the specified ID group no longer exists.

When you delete a policy, computers that are already registered in the ID group are not automatically de-registered.

On a management relay server, you might specify the asset management items and ID groups created on a higher system as policies. In such a case, do not specify settings that use the same conditions as the higher system and a different ID group at the registration destination.

You might create a new ID group while assigning a policy, and use an ID-management relay computer to manage that ID group. In such a case, a relay system or management relay server must be set as an ID-management relay computer before you finish assigning the policy. Make sure that the relay system or management relay server has been set as the ID-management relay computer before you finish assigning the policy.

To ensure successful operation, the system administrator must use the Job Status window of Remote Install Manager to delete ID group jobs promptly when they are no longer necessary. Doing so can prevent automatic ID group maintenance from triggering unnecessary ID group jobs or increasing load on the system.
