3.4.1 Setting the agent polling method
An agent executes jobs it receives from the managing server. The managed computer must be running for the agent software to receive jobs from the managing server. If a communication error occurs or the managed computer is inactive, the agent cannot receive jobs from the higher system. In this situation, the agent can still monitor whether there are jobs with the local system specified as the destination. The process of monitoring for jobs from higher systems is called polling.
You can specify the polling timing and interval in the agent configurations. The available polling methods are listed below. Select the polling method that is most appropriate for how the agent is used.
-
No polling.
-
Perform polling only once, at system startup.
-
Perform polling at regular intervals beginning when the system starts.
-
Perform polling once a day at a scheduled time (JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent (agent) only).
