2.5 Maintaining performance levels through regular maintenance
When you use the system for extended periods of time, device information accumulates in the system. Not only does this cause the database to occupy more space, but tasks such as searching and updating the database will take longer. These factors reduce the performance of the system as a whole.
To avoid this kind of drop in performance, we recommend that you regularly review how much of the information below is being retained by the system, and delete any that is no longer needed. One way to do this is by outputting the information to a CSV file.
For details about how to output information to a CSV file, see 10.1.1 Items that can be output to CSV files.
To minimize fragmentation of the database, we recommend that you re-organize the database after deleting the information.
System configuration
You can use CSV file output to output destination attributes and check the number of registered items.
You can delete unnecessary hosts as part of device maintenance.
For details about device maintenance, see the description of auto maintenance of devices in the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Overview and System Design Guide.
For details about how to delete deletion history information that is no longer needed, see 6.5.4 Deleting deletion history.
Installed package information
You can use CSV file output to output installed package information and check the number of registered items.
For details about how to delete installed package information, see 7.5 Deleting installed package information.
Jobs
-
Job definitions
You can view the number of registered items in the Job Definition window of the Remote Install Manager.
You can also make jobs easier to manage by creating folders in which to store jobs of a certain type.
For details, see 9.3.2 Managing saved jobs and folders.
-
Job execution results
You can use CSV file output to output job statuses and check the number of registered items.
In addition to the Job Status window, you can use commands to execute and delete jobs.
For details about how to delete jobs, see 9.5.1 Deleting a job.
You can also reduce disk usage by configuring the saving of job execution results so that the system only records important job execution results.
For details about how to configure the saving of job execution results, see the description of the procedure for setting up the management server in the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Configuration Guide.
Packages
You can use CSV file output to output package attributes and check the number of registered items.
In addition to the Package window, you can use commands to delete registered packages.
For details about how to delete packages, see 7.4.5 Deleting cabinets and packages.
