Overview of the monitoring template
The Performance Management products enable you to use the following three methods to create alarms and reports:
-
By using the alarms and reports defined by PFM - Agent
-
By copying and customizing the alarms and reports defined by PFM - Agent
-
By using a wizard to define new information
The set of alarms and reports provided by PFM - Agent is called the monitoring template. Because all needed information is predefined for the reports and alarms in the monitoring template, you can simply copy them to use the monitoring template as is. Alternatively, you can customize the predefined reports and alarms as appropriate for your environment. These methods eliminate the need to use the wizard to create new definitions, and they simplify the preparations for monitoring the operating status of desired programs.
This chapter describes the alarm and report settings in the monitoring template that has been defined by PFM - Agent for Service Response.
For details about how to use the monitoring template, see the chapter that describes report creation for operation analysis, or the chapter that describes operation monitoring by alarms, in the JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.
- Note:
-
The thresholds set for the alarms in the monitoring template are reference examples. To use the alarms in the monitoring template, copy the setting and specify the thresholds appropriate for the environment and OS.
