JP1 Version 11 JP1/Performance Management - Agent Option for Service Response Description, User's Guide and Reference

8.3 Measurement condition registration file (esptask.xml)

The measurement condition registration file is used to register measurement conditions for the IE scenario or each Internet service. This file is read when the Agent Collector, the Probe Daemon, or the IE Probe Daemon starts. This file is specified in XML format.

You can use PFM - Web Console to define the settings of the measurement condition registration file. If you use PFM - Web Console to define the settings, you do not need to restart PFM - Agent for Service Response. You can also use PFM - Web Console to apply these settings to the Probe Daemon and the IE Probe Daemon. For these reasons, usually use PFM - Web Console to define the measurement conditions.

When you define the measurement condition for IE scenarios, you can register the definitions to the measurement condition registration file and edit this file in the IE Recorder (main) window. Yet, if you edit this file in the IE Recorder (main) window, you must stop PFM - Agent for Service Response in advance. Hitachi recommends that you use PFM - Web Console to edit the measurement condition registration file.

If you do not use PFM - Web Console, you must restart PFM - Agent for Service Response to apply the definitions specified in the measurement condition registration file.

You cannot use PFM - Web Console to specify the <POST> tags under the <HTTP> tag or the <POST> tags under the <HTTPS> tag. Edit directly the measurement condition registration file to specify the <POST> tags.

Notes on editing directly the measurement condition registration file
  • You must stop PFM - Agent for Service Response in advance before editing directly the measurement condition registration file.

  • If you edit directly the measurement condition registration file, you can specify the multibyte characters as the values of the properties that are not allowed to contain the multibyte characters. In this case, when the measurement condition registration file is read, PFM - Web Console displays the values of the properties as they are and the Valid is displayed in the Status. Yet, if you click the OK button, PFM - Web Console outputs the error message that the multibyte characters are specified in the field allowed to contain only the single-byte characters (KAVJS2602-E).

  • While editing directly the measurement condition registration file, you must not choose from the Tools menu Simplified Registration in the IE Recorder (main) window.

Notes on specifying tags for the measurement condition registration file

Multibyte characters (for example, Japanese) can be specified in the following tags only:

  • <TASKLABEL> tags for all services

  • <MESSAGE_BODY> tags for HTTP and HTTPS services

  • <CLIENT_CERT_FILE> tags for HTTPS services

  • <FILE_NAME> tags for FTP services

  • <TRANSACTION_FILE> tags for WEBTRANS services

  • <TRANSACTION_NAME> tags for WEBTRANS services

  • <IESCENA_FILE> tags for IE scenarios
