#
When you want to display a column or a stacked column graph in 3D form, select Show 3D for Graph options. When doing so, the following conditions must be satisfied. If they are not satisfied, the graph might not be displayed correctly when it is displayed in 3D form.
-
The graph types for the series group to be displayed must be one of the following combinations:
- Column or stacked column (one series)
- Column or stacked column and line (two series)
- Column or stacked column, and area or stacked area (two series)
-

- Organization of this subsection
(1) Drawing sequence of graphs in combination reports
-
The graphs in combination reports can be drawn as follows:
1. By overlaying series groups (in order from series group 1 to series group n)
2. Within a series group, by overlaying registered reports in the same sequence in which they are registered in the series group
3. Within a registered report, by overlaying fields in the same sequence as the sequence in the registered report
When you define a combination bookmark, you can set types 1 and 2 by specifying the drawing sequence of graphs in Series group settings. Set the graphs so they are not hidden when they are drawn. You can set type 3 in the window for creating a new report definition or the window for editing an existing report definition.
Note that either a series group that contains a 3D column or 3D stacked column graph, or a series group that contains a line graph is displayed in the foreground regardless of the order of the series groups. To specify the graph so that it is displayed in the foreground, use the <foregroundCombinationGraph> tag in the initialization file (config.xml). For details, see Initialization file (config.xml).
-
Although you can always set graph options for Show Grid, they are valid only for the foreground graph.
(2) Horizontal axis (X axis) and vertical axis (Y axis) of graphs in a combination report
-
You cannot specify general settings for an entire combination report.
For the Y axis in a combination report, you can scale automatically for each series group (adjust to the maximum and minimum values of the actual data) or scale manually for each series group (specify the maximum and minimum values). You can select the left side or the right side for the axis label.
-
The X axis in a combination report is fixed at one time unit.
If the date range and the collection interval do not match, values are considered missing and the data is corrected, resulting in imperfect drawing of the graph. Note that the time unit is not uniform for PD records, since the unit for the collection interval is seconds. Accordingly, using a line graph for PD records is recommended.
-
The display order of Y-axis scales in a combination report is determined by the graph drawing order.
Of the series groups contained in a combination report, the Y-axis scale of the frontmost series group is drawn at the innermost position (the position closest to the graph). Accordingly, the Y-axis scale of a series group further back is drawn outside the scales of any previous series groups.
(3) Number of fields in a combination report
-
For combination reports, there is no limit on the number of fields in a report. However, if there are too many fields, a part or all of a graph or a legend might not be visible. If this happens, change the magnification or use one of the following methods to limit the number of fields. The recommended number of fields for display is about 20.
-
Decrease the number of reports to be displayed in the Edit window for combination bookmarks.
-
Decrease the number of fields in the Edit window for each report definition, and re-create the registered report.
-
Add filtering conditions in the Edit window for each report definition, and re-create the registered report.
-
Set shorter display names for the fields than the default field names in the Edit window for each report definition, and re-create the registered report.
In the following cases, some or all of a graph or a legend might become invisible, or a legend might be displayed in two or more columns.
-
The magnification is 100% and the legend contains about 20 lines.
-
The magnification is 200% and the legend contains about 30 lines.
-
The magnification is 400% and the legend contains about 50 lines.
-
The magnification is 600% and the legend contains about 50 lines.
-
The magnification is 800% and the legend contains about 70 lines.
-
-
For combination reports, if there are too many characters in a legend, part of the legend might not be visible. If this happens, change the magnification or use one of the following methods to change the number of characters in the legend:
-
Shorten the report name and re-create the registered report.
-
Decrease the number of agents to be bound, and re-create the registered report.
-
In the Edit window for each report definition, set display names for fields that are shorter than the default field names, and re-create the registered report.
In the following cases, part of a legend might become invisible:
-
The magnification is 100%, and the number of characters is about 50 (two-byte characters) or 80 (single-byte characters).
-
The magnification is 200%, and the number of characters is about 80 (two-byte characters) or 120 (single-byte characters).
-
The magnification is 400%, and the number of characters is about 110 (two-byte characters) or 160 (single-byte characters).
-
The magnification is 600%, and the number of characters is about 140 (two-byte characters) or 200 (single-byte characters).
-
The magnification is 800%, and the number of characters is about 160 (two-byte characters) or 230 (single-byte characters).
-
(4) Series group settings in a combination report
-
For a series group, set at least one registered report. If no registered reports are set for any of the series groups, no graphs are displayed. Graphs are also not displayed when only baselines are set.
-
For a combination report, if too many characters are set for a series group name, the series group name and the characters for a legend might overlap. To remove the overlap, increase the graph magnification, or reduce the number of characters for the series group name.
For example, if a series group name in a graph has about 25 two-byte or 30 single-byte characters and a legend has about 10 lines, characters might overlap at a graph magnification of 100%. You can avoid any overlap by increasing the magnification to 200%.
(5) Baseline display period for a combination report
-
The baseline display period (Start time) is determined automatically from the current date and time at which the combination report was started based on the report display period set in Date range and Report interval. If you change the report display period setting (Date range and Report interval), the value is reset to the report display period setting (Start time).
-
In the View Report window, if you execute Refresh, the report display period settings (Start time and End time) might change due to the setting in Date range, but the baseline display period setting (Start time) does not change.
-
The start point and the end point of the graph in a combination report are not affected when the start time setting for the baseline display period or the data in the baseline is changed. However, if there is only one piece of data (data in which the start point and the end point are the same) in a registered report to be displayed together with the baseline, the start point and the end point of the graph in the report might be within the range collected in the baseline. In addition, the start point and the end point of the actual graph display period are determined based on the data that exists within the range of the report display period settings (Start time and End time).
-
The start time setting for the baseline display period is in effect for each baseline. If a baseline has multiple fields and the start time of each field differs, the oldest field data in the time series data is drawn as the start point based on the start time setting for the baseline display period. The start time of other fields is drawn by using the data in effect when the baseline was saved as the start point.
-
If you register a baseline with multiple fields with different start times, the oldest field data in the time series data is drawn as the start point based on the start time setting for the baseline display period. In this case, the relative start point of each field is kept.
(6) Length of graph titles for a combination report
A maximum of 64 single-byte and two-byte characters can be displayed for a graph title. However, if you display 61 or more two-byte characters for a graph title when the graph magnification is 100%, a line feed might be inserted. No line feed is inserted if single-byte characters are used.
(7) Notes on displaying records of the PD record type in a combination report
In PFM - Web Console version 10-00 or later, if you display records of the PD record type as a column or stacked column graph in a combination report, the following might occur:
-
The width of a column might be narrower if the interval for collecting records deviates from the normal interval.
-
When the interval for collecting records is set to one hour or longer, the display positions of columns might not be the same as the display positions in PFM - Web Console version 09-00 or earlier.
Accordingly, when you display PD-record type records in a combination report in PFM - Web Console version 10-00 or later, we recommend that you use line graphs.
