11.4.1 Configuration of the Package Setup Manager window
Starting Package Setup Manager opens the Package Setup Manager window. The Package Setup Manager window has the following two windows, which can be switched between one or the other:
-
Package window
-
Package Setup Manager - Installed Package
- Organization of this subsection
(1) Package window
The Package window lists the software packages of which installation is permitted. Listed software packages vary depending on the higher system to which the managed computer is connected. You can select only necessary software products from this list, and then install them.
After you have performed installation of packages (by using Package Setup Manager), results of installation are reported to the higher system. A blue circle is displayed on the icon of each package that was installed successfully. A red cross is displayed on the icon of each package that failed to be installed. The same marking also applies to the package icons also when packages have been installed without using Package Setup Manager (a blue circle is displayed on the icon of each installed package). The marking applies, for example, when a package has been automatically installed by a normal remote installation job, or when a package has been locally installed by a user.
For details about the operations of the Package window, see 11.4.2 Package installation using Package Setup Manager.
(2) Installed Packages window
The Installed Packages window lists the packages that have been installed by Remote Installation Manager.
For the display contents of the Installed Packages window, see 11.4.3 Checking software installation status.
(3) Linkage between windows
The two windows in the Package Setup Manager window are linked to each other. Assume that a package is installed by using Package Setup Manager. In this case, in addition to a blue circle displayed on the icon of the package in the Package window, software information corresponding to the package is also added in the Installed Packages window.
Also, assume that a package displayed in the Package window is locally installed. In this case, in addition to the information about the package being displayed in the Installed packages window, a blue circle is also displayed on the icon of the package in the Package window.
(4) Notes
-
If you have installed a package while specifying the installation-destination drive with a numerical value, the numerical value is displayed as the drive name also in the Installed Packages window. The numerical value is not converted to the corresponding drive name.
-
When a managed computer is registered in multiple ID groups, multiple identical packages might be displayed in the Package window.
-
While the file transfer from the connection destination is suspended, package installation is disabled. A red cross mark is displayed on the icon of packages that could not be installed. When, however, the file transfer is resumed, package installation is enabled.
-
If an attempt to install a package by overwrite installation has resulted in an error, the package is displayed as an installed package, even after occurrence of the error.
