Organization of this subsection

(1) Package information

In this area, set up the information for identifying a package. Specify a package with a package ID, version, and generation number that are different from those of any existing packages.

If you select Hitachi program products or Other companies' software for Package type, particular values are automatically displayed in the Package name, Package ID, Version/revision, and Generation drop-down lists, and basically you cannot change these values. If no values are displayed in these drop-down lists, it is assumed that you have selected User programs and data.

Package name (mandatory)

If you select User programs and data for Package type, specify the package name of the user program or data to be packaged. For package names, you can specify a maximum of 50 characters. You cannot use the \ character.

If you select Hitachi program products for Package type, you can change the package name that is displayed. You can change the package name to any name that is easy for end users to understand or is otherwise convenient.

Package ID (mandatory)

If you select User programs and data for Package type, specify the ID of the package. Specify from 1 to 44 single-byte alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), or underscores (_). Alphabetic characters must be in uppercase.

Do not specify the following strings at the beginning of a package ID:

  • DPT-

  • SPC-

Version/revision (mandatory)

If you select User programs and data for Package type, specify the version of the package by using a maximum of six alphanumeric characters or forward slashes (/). Alphabetic characters must be in uppercase.

Generation

If you select User programs and data for Package type, you can also assign a generation number in addition to a version. Specify a maximum of four alphanumeric characters (alphabetic characters must be in uppercase). Packages with the same version can be classified by specifying a generation number.

(2) Package type (mandatory)

Select the type of software to be packaged. If the software to be packaged is a Hitachi program product or another company's software, the corresponding option (Hitachi program products or Other companies' software) is automatically selected. In other cases, it is assumed that you have selected User programs and data.

(3) Cabinet for saving packages

In this area, specify a cabinet for saving packages. You cannot delete your created packages from the Packager.

Cabinet name

In this drop-down list, specify a unique cabinet name. You can specify a maximum of 32 single-byte characters for a cabinet name. You cannot use the following characters: \, /, *, ", :, ; and space.

You can also select an existing cabinet name from the drop-down list.

Cabinet ID (mandatory)

In this drop-down list, specify a unique ID for each cabinet by using two single-byte alphanumeric characters (alphabetic characters must be in uppercase). You must specify a cabinet ID when setting a new cabinet name. If you select an existing cabinet name, the corresponding cabinet ID automatically appears.

JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 identifies each cabinet according to the cabinet ID.
