4.4.6 Window operations

This section describes how to work with the Remote Installation Manager windows.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Opening a new window

To open a new window in Remote Installation Manager, from the File menu, select New. Then, choose the desired window from the menu that appears. There is no limit to the number of windows that can be open at once. You can also open more than one instance of the same type of window.

(2) Arranging windows

When displaying multiple windows in Remote Installation Manager, you can arrange the windows to make Remote Installation Manager easier to use. Note that you can arrange only three or four windows at one time.

To arrange the windows:

  1. From the Options menu, select Arrangement Pattern.

The Arrangement Pattern dialog box appears.

    Pattern

Select the number of windows to display and the pattern in which to display them. Windows of the same type will be arranged at the same location. This means that if you display multiple windows of the same type, they will be displayed on top of each other.

    Window

Select the windows to arrange in the pattern. When you select a window name in Select from and click the > button, the window name moves to the Selected window area and will be displayed in Remote Installation Manager. To remove a selection, select the window name in the Selected window area and click the < button. To remove all selections, click the << button.

The sequence in the Selected window area corresponds to the numbers (1 to 4) in the patterns. In the example above, the System Configuration, Package, and Job Status windows will appear at positions 1, 2, and 3 of pattern 1, respectively. If a particular window is not being displayed when you arrange the windows, the corresponding location in the Remote Installation Manager window will be empty.

  2. Click OK.

The settings take effect, and the Arrangement Pattern dialog box closes.

  3. From the Window menu, select Arrange Windows.

The windows are arranged in the layout you specified.
