Job Management Partner 1 Version 10 Job Management Partner 1/IT Desktop Management 2 Distribution Function Administration Guide

1.3.1 About jobs

JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 implements all manner of distribution management tasks, such as remote installation of software and collection of files, by creating and executing instructions called jobs from the managing server.

You can execute jobs on computers for which Managed is specified for Mode in the device information. If you execute a job that targets a computer whose mode is Discovered or Ignored, the job remains in Waiting for transmission status. For details about the mode in the device information, see the description of device discovery in the Job Management Partner 1 Version 10 Job Management Partner 1/IT Desktop Management 2 Administration Guide.

Basic job-related tasks such as creating, saving, and executing jobs are common to many JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 components. To make the most of distribution management in JP1/IT Desktop Management 2, you must have a thorough understanding of jobs.

For details about how to create and execute jobs, see 9.1 Creating and executing a job.

Note:

You cannot execute a job and ITDM-compatible distribution concurrently on an agent. If ITDM-compatible distribution is in progress in an agent, jobs executed on that agent might remain in Waiting for transmission status.
