The following shows the procedure for applying the task definitions to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon by using PFM - Web Console.

1. From the monitoring console browser, log on to PFM - Web Console.
   The main window of PFM - Web Console appears.
   
2. In the navigation frame of the main window, choose the Services tab.
   The Services window appears.
   
3. In the navigation frame of the Services window, expand the contents of the monitoring agent host folder, and select the Agent Collector service.
   The Properties page appears.
   
4. Select Probe folder under Services tree.
5. Select Yes in the Reload property and click the OK button.
   The IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon are restarted, and the changed measurement conditions are applied.
   

   Note:

   If you did not click the OK button after changing the properties of the measurement conditions (the procedure 5 in 3.7.3 Setting the Task information), the changed measurement conditions are not applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon.

6. Check the status of the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon.
   You can check the status of the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon by using PFM - Web Console.
   

   Status of the IE Probe Daemon:

   You can check the status of the IE Probe Daemon in the IE Probe Status property. If it displays Unknown, reload the properties.

   Value of IE Probe Status	Status of the service
   Active	The IE Probe Daemon is running, or stopping.
   Inactive	The IE Probe Daemon is stopped, or starting.
   Unknown	Failure to acquire the status of the IE Probe Daemon.
   Reloading	The IE Probe Daemon is reloading the settings.

   Status of the Probe Daemon:

   You can check the status of the Probe Daemon in the Probe Status property. If it displays Unknown, reload the properties.

   Value of the Probe Status	Status of the service
   Active	The Probe Daemon is running, or stopping.
   Inactive	The Probe Daemon is stopped, or starting.
   Unknown	Failure to acquire the status of the Probe Daemon.
   Reloading	The Probe Daemon is reloading the settings.

7. Check the value of Status for each task is Applied.
   The Status property represents the status of editing tasks and applying them. The following table lists the status name, their descriptions, and how to handle them.
   

   Table 3-12 Value and description of the property and how to handle

   Status name	Description	How to handle
   Applied	The changed settings are applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon.	Unnecessary.
   Deleted	The deletion of the settings is not yet applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon. If you change the properties of the tasks of this status, the changes are invalid and not applied. You cannot add the task of the same ID until the status becomes Applied.	Select Yes in Reload property and click the OK button. The task disappears from the Task List, and then you can add a task of the same task ID as the deleted one.
   Initial	A new task is created, but you do not specify the values and not click the OK button yet.	Enter the valid values to all the required properties, and click the OK button. The Status becomes Valid. Select Yes in Reload and click the OK button. After the settings are applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon, the Status becomes Applied.
   Invalid #	One or more specified values of the properties are invalid.	Enter the valid value to the properties with the invalid values, make sure that you specify the valid values to all the required properties, and click the OK button. The Status becomes Valid. Select Yes in the Reload property and click the OK button. If the settings are applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon, the Status becomes Applied.
   Valid	All required properties are specified correctly, but the settings are not yet applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon.	Select Yes in Reload and click the OK button. After the settings are applied to the IE Probe Daemon and the Probe Daemon, the Status becomes Applied.

   When the Status is Invalid, the status name is followed by the invalid properties delimited by comma (,) and surrounded by the square brackets. For example, the URL and Depth properties are invalid, the status is displayed as follows: Invalid[URL, Depth].

   You can check the properties with the invalid values by the messages output to the common message log.
