Format 1
jpcconf agent setup -key service-key [-noquery]
Format 2
jpcconf agent setup -key service-key [-register]
Function
The jpcconf agent setup command adds a new instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM to Performance Management systems. Information about the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM instance is registered in PFM - Manager and PFM - Base. For version 09-00 or later of PFM - Manager, since PFM - Agent and PFM - RM information is automatically registered with PFM - Manager, this command does not normally need to be executed.
To have new information about instances of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM registered with PFM - Manager displayed in the PFM - Web Console, start the newly registered PFM - Agent or PFM - RM instance. The information is applied upon login to PFM - Web Console. However, for instances of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM released after PFM - Manager, manual registration might be necessary. In this case, execute the jpcconf agent setup command using Format 1. To display the information in PFM - Web Console without starting PFM - Agent or PFM - RM, execute the jpcconf agent setup command in Format 2.
Execute this command in the following case:
- Format 1
-
-
When registering an instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM released after PFM - Manager#1
-
When registering an instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM with PFM - Base#2
-
- Format 2
-
-
When registering information about an instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM with PFM - Manager without starting the instance, and displaying it in PFM - Web Console
-
- #1
-
For details about whether registration is necessary, see the PFM - Manager release notes.
- #2
-
This is necessary when the NNM linkage facility is used and PFM - Base is installed on the host on which NNM is installed.
If logical host settings have been set up for PFM - Manager, information about the new PFM - Agent or PFM - RM instance is registered for the set logical host and physical host.

Execution permission
- In Windows:
-
User with Administrators permissions (executed from the administrator console if Windows UAC functionality is enabled)
- In UNIX:
-
User with root user permissions
Installation directory
- In Windows:
installation-folder\tools\
- In UNIX:
/opt/jp1pc/tools/
Arguments
-key service-key
Specifies the service key for the new instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM for which additional setup is to be executed. A product name can also be specified when the product name display functionality is enabled.
Assume that you set up a product not described in Appendix Registration information for the JP1/PFM - Agent in JP1/PFM - Manager in the Release Notes for PFM - Manager on the PFM - Manager installed in the host on which you want to execute the jpcconf agent setup command. In such cases, specify a service key instead of the product name of the product.
-
Format 1
The service key that can be specified here can only be from an instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM for which a setup file has been copied to the following directory:
-
In Windows: installation-folder\setup\
-
In UNIX: /opt/jp1pc/setup/
For details about setup files, see the chapter describing installation and setup in the relevant PFM - Agent or PFM - RM manuals.
If all is specified in service-key, the setup is executed for all setup files that have been copied to this folder.
-
-
Format 2
Unlike Format 1, there is no need to copy a setup file. all cannot be specified for the service key.
-register
Displays the instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM specified by the service key, in the PFM - Web Console. If PFM - Manager is running on a cluster system, this can only be executed on the executing node.
-noquery
If this option is specified, the command does not output any query messages that interrupt command execution, making it unnecessary for the user to respond. Specify this option if you want the command to run in non-interactive mode.
Note, however, that if there are Performance Management services that are running, command execution is interrupted with a KAVE05143-E message. If this message is output, stop all Performance Management services that are running on the local host, and then re-execute the command.
Notes
-
The log information for when this command is executed is output to the common message log on the physical host, even when the setup destination is on the logical host.
-
If this command's execution is interrupted by pressing the Ctrl + C keys or by a signal, a predefined return value is not returned. Therefore, you should ignore the return value when the command was interrupted by the Ctrl + C keys or by a signal.
-
For version 09-00 or later of PFM - Web Console, information about the registered instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM is applied upon login. For version 08-11 or earlier of PFM - Web Console, registration is applied once PFM - Web Console is restarted.
Cautions regarding execution using Format 1
-
Before executing this command, copy the setup file for the new instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM for which information is to be registered in the following directory on the execution host:
-
In Windows: installation-folder\setup\
-
In UNIX: /opt/jp1pc/setup/
When performing additional setup of a new instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM on a host separate from that on which the original instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM was installed, make sure that the setup file for the new instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM is copied to these directories on the execution host. When using FTP to copy (transfer) files between a Windows host and UNIX host, make sure that binary mode is used.
-
-
Before executing this command, stop all Performance Management services running on the local host. If you execute this command without stopping the services, the command will attempt to stop them. However, if the command cannot stop the services completely, an error will result. If this occurs, make sure that the services have stopped completely, and then re-execute the command. After the setup is completed, manually start the services.
To check the startup status for the service, execute the jpctool service list command.
-
When an attempt is made to set up an instance of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM already supported by PFM - Manager, the KAVE05944-W message is output, and setup for PFM - Manager is skipped. In this case, setup for PFM - Manager is not necessary.
Cautions regarding execution using Format 2
-
It is not necessary to stop the Performance Management service.
-
Registration in Format 2 cannot be performed for instances of PFM - Agent or PFM - RM released after PFM - Manager. Use Format 1 for setup.
-
This command cannot be executed outside of a PFM - Manager host.
