Job Management Partner 1 Version 10 Job Management Partner 1/Consolidated Management 2/Network Node Manager i Setup Guide

22.2 Upgrading to a different NNMi management server

This section describes the process for upgrading to NNMi 10-50 on a new system while maintaining the configuration of the existing (source) NNMi management server.

Reference note

Before upgrading the NNMi management server, read Chapter 2. Preinstallation Checklists in the manual Job Management Partner 1/Consolidated Management 2/Network Node Manager i Installation Guide.

The following steps explain how to copy data from the source NNMi management server to a target NNMi management server. The following steps assume you have NNMi 10-00 or 10-10 running on the source NNMi management server.

  1. Back up the source NNMi management server by running the nnmbackup.ovpl script. Label the backup file.

You would use this backup only in the unlikely event of a failed migration. For details, see the nnmbackup.ovpl Reference Page.

  2. By following the procedure described in the manual Job Management Partner 1/Consolidated Management 2/Network Node Manager i Installation Guide, install NNMi 10-50 in the source NNMi management server.

  3. Verify that NNMi 10-50 is running correctly on the source NNMi management server.

  4. Back up NNMi 10-50 on the source NNMi management server by running the nnmbackup.ovpl script. Label this backup file.

You will need this file for copying data to the target NNMi management server. For details, see the nnmbackup.ovpl Reference Page.

  5. By following the procedure described in the manual Job Management Partner 1/Consolidated Management 2/Network Node Manager i Installation Guide, install NNMi 10-50 on the target NNMi management server.

To migrate the data from step 4, the target NNMi management server must be running the same operating system version. NNMi does not support data migration to an NNMi management server running on a different operating system.

  6. Run the nnmrestore.ovpl script to copy NNMi database information to the target server.

For details, see the nnmrestore.ovpl Reference Page.

  7. Obtain and install a new license on the target NNMi management server.

  8. Verify that the information from the target NNMi management server migrated successfully from the existing NNMi management server.
