4.3 Configuring discovery
This section lists configuration tips and provides some configuration examples. After reading the information in this section, see Configure Discovery in NNMi Help for specific procedures.
Because NNMi launches discovery from seeds as soon as you Save and Close the Discovery Seed form, ensure that you do the following before you configure seeds:

Complete all communication configuration.

Complete all auto-discovery rules (if any).

Configure subnet connection rules.

Configure name resolution preferences.

Save and Close all of the way back to the console.

If you perform rule-based discovery, it is advisable to save a copy of the existing configuration before you make any major configuration changes. For details, see 2.2 Best practice: Save the existing configuration.
