7.6 Map Output window
From the Map Output window, you can output jobnet definitions to Microsoft Excel in map form. This window uses Microsoft Excel.
The following explains the displayed items.
- Output whole job hierarchical tree
-
Select this option to output information for the specified unit and all its subordinate units.
- Output n levels of job hierarchical tree. Specify n:
-
Select this option to output information for a specified number of hierarchical levels below the specified unit.
Specify the number of hierarchical levels as a value from 1 to 2,147,483,647. The default is 1.
If you specify 1, the system outputs information for the units directly below the specified unit in the hierarchy.
- Insert a page break before a jobnet
-
Select this check box to insert a page break between jobnets.
- Start
-
Starts the map output process.
- Cancel
-
Cancels processing and closes the window.
When you click Start in the Map Output window, Microsoft Excel starts and the jobnet definitions are reproduced in map form in Microsoft Excel.
The map output feature outputs a map to a new Microsoft Excel workbook.
The entire map occupies one sheet in Microsoft Excel. When map output is performed for multiple jobnets, the maps cascade downward.
The name of each jobnet is displayed in full, prefixed by Name:.
A map of the jobnet appears after the jobnet name.
A map can contain a maximum of 100 x 100 jobs per jobnet.
When you collect job operation information from JP1/AJS2 - Manager 08-10 or later or JP1/AJS3 - Manager 09-00 or later, last update time appears at the top of the map only if you configured the system to collect it.
Cautionary notes:
-
In the following circumstances, only the full jobnet name is output:
-
There are no units to display in the jobnet
-
The unit is a root jobnet or manager jobnet
You can check the definition items in the Job Operation Document Output window or by outputting the information to a CSV file.
-
-
Do not specify 1 for n in Output n levels of job hierarchical tree. Specify n: if you selected a job group in the unit tree in the Job Operation Document Output window. If you specify 1, nothing is output. Specify a number that includes a hierarchical level in which jobnets are defined.
-
JP1/AJS3 - Print Option uses the standard icons provided by JP1/AJS3 - View 09-00. The following icon appears for units that do not have an icon in JP1/AJS3 - View:
-
The amount of information the map output functionality can output depends on the maximum number of lines and columns allowed by Microsoft Excel. If the output information exceeds these limits, Microsoft Excel will terminate abnormally.
You can find out how many lines and columns Microsoft Excel allows by viewing the Help or other documentation for Microsoft Excel.
-
Do not use Microsoft Excel while map output is in progress. Doing so might affect not only the map information being output, but also any other files you are working on.
-
You cannot perform multiple instances of map output concurrently, or perform map output at the same time as jobnet flow output. If you attempt to do so, the tasks are processed sequentially in the order in which they were executed.
-
You cannot perform map output if the default printer is unavailable.
Map output uses landscape as the page orientation when outputting information to Microsoft Excel. If the default printer is unavailable, Microsoft Excel generates an error in relation to the printer settings and map output fails.
In this situation, use one of the following workarounds:
-
Make the default printer available
-
Set a dummy local printer as the default printer
-
Delete all printers
Note that if your default printer is a networked printer, the status of the print server will affect the availability of the printer.
-
-
Icons, arrows, and unit path names might become hidden behind a text box. If this occurs, adjust the height of cells or text boxes in Microsoft Excel as needed.
-
You cannot tell whether a jobnet has release information from its icon. A jobnet with release information has the same icon as a jobnet without release information.
-
The processing time for map output depends on the rendering performance of Microsoft Excel. Maps take longer to render as the number of units and relation lines increases. If the source information contains a large number of units or relation lines, consider splitting the units across several maps or limiting the number of hierarchical levels in the output data.
-
If the unit name is not displayed fully in the print and print preview, you can extend the unit name display area to display the cutoff unit name. For details on how to extend the size of the unit name display area, see 7.19 Environment Settings window.
However, if you are using Microsoft Excel 2003, when there is an extra new line and the unit name cannot be displayed, do not use the method mentioned above. Resolve the issue by editing the height of the text box in Microsoft Excel.
-
If the arrow is hidden by the unit name's background, you can make the unit name background transparent to display the hidden arrow. For details on how to make the unit name background transparent, see 7.19 Environment Settings window.
