11.1.1 Types of customization methods

(1) List of customization methods

You can customize windows and dialog boxes in the following five ways:

Customization by using dialog boxes and menus from JP1/AJS3 - View

A customization that uses dialog boxes and menus from JP1/AJS3 - View is applied to each login JP1 user on each JP1/AJS3 - View host.

Some of the customization can be saved as a common user profile. To apply a customization to multiple JP1 users, use the common user profile.

For details about common user profiles, see 11.1.2 Using common user profiles.

Customization by using a JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsDisableMenu)

A customization that uses a JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsDisableMenu) is applied to each login JP1 user regardless of the JP1/AJS3 - View host.

Customization by using a JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsExecutableCommand)

A customization that uses the jajsExecutableCommand file of JP1/AJS3 - Manager can be applied to all JP1 users or to a specific JP1 user.

Customization by using the JP1/AJS3 - View user-specified option file (ajs2view_opt.conf)

A customization that uses the JP1/AJS3 - View user-specified option file (ajs2view_opt.conf) is applied to each login JP1 user on each JP1/AJS3 - View host.

Part of the customization can be saved as a common user profile. To apply a customization to multiple JP1 users, use a common user profile.

Customization by using the JP1/AJS3 - View system common settings file (ajs2view_common.conf)

A customization that uses the JP1/AJS3 - View system common settings file (ajs2view_common.conf) is applied to each JP1/AJS3 - View host regardless of the login JP1 user.

You can use dialog boxes and menus from JP1/AJS3 - View to customize JP1/AJS3 - View.

(3) Customization by using the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsDisableMenu)

You can edit the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsDisableMenu) to customize JP1/AJS3 - View.

To customize JP1/AJS3 - View by using the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file:

1. In JP1/AJS3 - Manager, create a folder for storing the customization file (jajsDisableMenu).

   Create a folder for each customization-target JP1 user, and specify the JP1 user name for the folder name.

   The following shows the location of the folder to be created.

   In Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008:

   %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Hitachi\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2\conf\profiles\JP1-user-name^{#1, #2}

   The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.

   In Windows Server 2003:

   JP1/AJS3 - Manager-installation-folder\conf\Profiles\JP1-user-name^{#1, #2}

   In UNIX:

   /etc/opt/jp1ajs2/conf/profiles/JP1-user-name^{#1, #2}

   JP1-user-name cannot have uppercase alphabetic characters. If you use alphabetic characters, make sure that they are all lowercase.

   If you use any of the following names as the JP1 user name, the folder that is created for each JP1 user name is enclosed in single-byte parentheses ( ).

   In Windows:

   - A device name (such as NUL, CON, AUX, COM1 to COM9, LPT1 to LPT9, and PRN)

   - A name consisting of a device and extension

   - A name beginning with a period (.)

   In UNIX:

   - A name beginning with a period (.)

2. In the JP1-user-name folder that you created in step 1, create a customization file (jajsDisableMenu), and then open the file with a text editor.

3. Specify the settings that you want to customize, and then save them.

4. Start JP1/AJS3 - View.

   The customization is enabled from JP1/AJS3 - View, which starts after the customization file is created.

Cautionary note

The specifications in the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file take effect for both physical and logical hosts. If you specify customization settings for a logical host, you must specify them for both the executing and standby systems.

(4) Customization by using the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsExecutableCommand)

You can edit the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsExecutableCommand) to customize JP1/AJS3 - View.

To customize JP1/AJS3 - View by using the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file:

1. Copy the model file (jajsExecutableCommand.model) for the JP1/AJS3 - Manager file (jajsExecutableCommand) to any folder.

   The model file (jajsExecutableCommand.model) is located in the following folder:

   In Windows:

   JP1/AJS3 - Manager-installation-folder\conf

   In UNIX:

   /etc/opt/jp1ajs2/conf

2. Use a text editor to open the copied model file.

3. Specify the settings that you want to customize, and then save the file.

   For details about the file specification format, see 11.3.18 Allowing execution of JP1/AJS3 commands.

4. Change the file name to jajsExecutableCommand, and then move the file to the appropriate location.

   The location of the common customization file for all JP1 users and the location of the customization file for a specific JP1 user are different. If both the common customization file and a user-specific customization file exist in the same location, the settings in the user-specific customization file take precedence.    The following table shows the location of the jajsExecutableCommand file.

   Substitute the following folder for JP1/AJS3-folder:

   In Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008, if the installation folder is in the default folder or in a folder protected by the system	%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Hitachi\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2\conf
   In Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008, if an installation folder other than the above is used	JP1/AJS3-Manager-installation-folder\conf
   In Windows Server 2003	JP1/AJS3-Manager-installation-folder\conf

   The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.

   A folder protected by the system is a folder under any of the following:

   - system-drive\Windows

   - system-drive\Program Files

   - system-drive\Program Files (x86) (for 64-bit Windows)

(5) Customization by using user-specified option file (ajs2view_opt.conf)

You can edit the JP1/AJS3 - View user-specified option file (ajs2view_opt.conf) to customize JP1/AJS3 - View.

To customize JP1/AJS3 - View by using the user-specified option file:

1. Copy the model file (ajs2view_opt.conf.model) for the user-specified option file to any folder.

   The following folder contains the model file (ajs2view_opt.conf.model):

   JP1/AJS3 - View-installation-folder\conf

2. Use a text editor to open the copied model file.

3. Specify the settings that you want to customize, and then save them.

   Delete the hash mark (#) preceding an option you want to customize, and then specify a value.

4. Change the file name to ajs2view_opt.conf, and then move the file to the following folder.

   In Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista:

   %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Hitachi\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\JP1-user-name^#

   The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.

   In Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Professional:

   JP1/AJS3 - View-installation-folder\conf\JP1-user-name^#

   #

   If the system has been logged in to even once, the folder has already been created with that login JP1 user name.

   If you use any of the following names as the JP1 user name, the folder that is created for each JP1 user name is enclosed in single-byte parentheses ( ).

If no user-specified option file exists, JP1/AJS3 - View uses default values.

(6) Customization by using the JP1/AJS3 - View system common settings file (ajs2view_common.conf)

You can edit the JP1/AJS3 - View system common settings file (ajs2view_common.conf) to customize JP1/AJS3 - View.

To customize JP1/AJS3 - View by using the system common settings file:

1. Copy the model file (ajs2view_common.conf.model) for the system common settings file to any folder.

   The following folder contains the model file (ajs2view_common.conf.model):

   JP1/AJS3 - View-installation-folder\conf

2. Use a text editor to open the copied model file.

3. Specify the settings that you want to customize, and then save them.

   Delete the hash mark (#) preceding an option you want to customize, and then specify a value.

4. Change the file name to ajs2view_common.conf and move the file to the following folder.

   In Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista:

   %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Hitachi\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf

   The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.

   In Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Professional:

   JP1/AJS3 - View-installation-folder\conf

5. Start JP1/AJS3 - View.

   The customization is enabled from JP1/AJS3 - View, which starts after the system common settings file is saved.

Cautionary notes

• We recommend that users who do not need to change the system common settings file be granted either only read and execute permissions or read only permission.

• If there is no system common settings file, JP1/AJS3 - View uses default values.
