9.13 Changing the lower-level definition of a jobnet registered for execution

This subsection shows how to change the lower-level definition of a jobnet registered for execution.

You can also change the lower-level definition of a jobnet registered for execution by executing the ajssuspend command and then executing one of the following commands. For details on how to use the following commands, see the description of ajssuspend in 2. Commands in the manual Job Management Partner 1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Command Reference 1.

Organization of this section
(1) Suspending the root jobnet
(2) Editing the lower-level definition of a root jobnet
(3) Releasing a root jobnet from the suspension

(1) Suspending the root jobnet

Before you change the lower-level definition of the root jobnet registered for execution, you must place the root jobnet in the suspended status. You can suspend the root jobnet when all the following conditions are satisfied:

To suspend the root jobnet:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Status Monitor.
    Status Monitor is now selected.
  2. In the tree area, click the job group that manages the jobnet whose lower-level definition you want to change.
The job group you clicked is now selected.
The subordinate root jobnets appear in the list area.
  3. Click the target jobnet, and then choose Operations, Suspension, and then Suspend.
The Execute Suspension dialog box appears.
  4. In the If a unit is executing group, select Suspend or Do not suspend.
If there is a running generation of the jobnet you want to suspend, you can select whether or not to suspend the jobnet. If you do not suspend the jobnet, an error is returned.
To suspend the jobnet, select Suspend.
  5. Click the OK button.
When the root jobnet is suspended, The Execute Suspension dialog box closes. Then, the icon that indicates the suspended status is displayed to the left of the Name column in the list area.
If the root jobnet is not suspended, an error message appears and the Execute Suspension dialog box remains open.

Supplementary notes
  • You can suspend the root jobnet registered for planned execution, fixed execution, or immediate execution.
  • In the definition, you cannot change the start condition.
  • If the target of the operation is a release-target jobnet, only a jobnet with a definition whose release status is Being applied can be suspended.

(2) Editing the lower-level definition of a root jobnet

When the root jobnet is placed in the suspended status, you can edit the definition of a lower-level unit of a root jobnet. You can edit the lower-level definition of a root jobnet when both of the following conditions are satisfied:

To edit the lower-level definition of the root jobnet registered for execution:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Status Monitor.
    Status Monitor is now selected.
  2. In the list area, click the root jobnet whose icon indicates suspended status.
The root jobnet you clicked is now selected.
  3. Choose Edit and then Edit. Alternatively, double-click the root jobnet whose icon indicates suspended status.
    The Jobnet Editor window appears.
  4. Use any of the following methods to edit the lower-level definition of the root jobnet:
    • Add a new unit.
    • Edit the definition of an existing unit.
    • Delete the definition of an existing unit.

Cautionary notes
  • You cannot rename an existing unit. However, you can rename the unit added when the root jobnet was suspended.
  • You cannot move a unit by executing the Cut and Paste (or Paste (Extension)). To move a unit, you must execute the Copy, Paste (or Paste (Extension)), and Delete menu commands.
  • You cannot delete a unit being executed.
  • You cannot add or delete jobnet connectors.
  • You cannot delete or paste a unit containing a jobnet connector. For jobnet connectors and units that contain jobnet connectors, you can only do the following:
    - Add, delete, or edit relation lines.
    - Add, delete, or edit preceding and succeeding units.

Supplementary notes
  • If you change a definition when the jobnet is registered for execution, the change affects all generations that were executed, that are being executed, and that are to be executed.
  • If you edit the definition of an existing unit, the past execution results remain. If you delete the definition of an existing unit, the past execution results are not retained.
  • If you change or delete existing units, the configuration becomes different from the configuration before you change or delete the units. Be careful when re-executing the jobnet.
  • You can change the map area size of any jobnet regardless of the jobnet status when the root jobnet is suspended.

(3) Releasing a root jobnet from the suspension

After changing a lower-level definition of a root jobnet, you must release the root jobnet from the suspension. You can release the root jobnet from the suspension when all the following conditions are satisfied:

To release the jobnet from the suspension:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Status Monitor.
    Status Monitor is now selected.
  2. In the list area, select a jobnet marked with the icon indicating the suspended status.
The jobnet you clicked is placed in the selected status.
  3. In the Operations menu, choose Suspension and then Release Suspension.
The Release Suspension dialog box appears.
  4. Select the behavior of the units added to immediately under running jobnets when the root jobnet is released from the suspension. You can select any of the following behaviors:
    • Execute
The units added while the parent jobnets were running will be executed when the root jobnet is released from the suspension.
    • Do not execute (stop)
The units added while the parent jobnets were running will be placed in the bypassed status when the root jobnet is released from the suspension.
    • Hold
When the root jobnet is released from the suspension, the units added while the parent jobnets were running will be placed in the hold status.
  5. Click the OK button.
When the root jobnet is released from the suspension, the Release Suspension dialog box closes. In the list area, the icon indicating the suspended status disappears and the status is renewed.
If the root jobnet is not released from the suspension, an error message appears and the Release Suspension dialog box remains open.
