2.6.2 How to use the related links
To use a related link, in the Operational Content Settings window, specify the URL of the link destination in the Related Links Settings tab. For example, you can effectively use related links in the following case:
-
When you need to use documented procedures located on external Web sites and servers to check work-related information
In such a case, related links help you to shorten the time to search for necessary information and avoid referencing different information accidentally.
- Separate use of related links and hyperlink parts
-
You can set links also by using hyperlink parts. Hyperlink parts, however, require settings in individual guide areas. For this reason, if a link is to be displayed as a shared link in multiple guide areas, the link can be effectively set as a related link, which can be always displayed at the top of all guide areas.
Use hyperlink parts and related links separately by use. For example, use a hyperlink for the information that is required for specific procedures, while using related links for the information that is required for the whole work.
- Reference note
-
When you want to display a file stored in a web server (server machine), you need to obtain the URL of the file by using the File Management/Registration window, or obtain the file path name from the system administrator. For details about the File Management/Registration window, see 2.8.6 Storing a static file by using the File Management/Registration window.
