To use single-byte character codes, Unicodes (UTF-8), or Chinese EUC codes, use the pdntenv command to change the setting for the character codes to be used.

The Unicode set (UTF-8) cannot be specified for versions prior to HiRDB Text Search Plug-in Version 2 02-02. Therefore, if you are using HiRDB in conjunction with a version of HiRDB Text Search Plug-in Version 2 that is prior to 02-02, do not specify UTF-8.

To change the character codes once a database has been constructed, it is necessary to reconstruct the database.
