Connect to Application Server and install a new Application Server.
With a new installation, use the product media, PP installer. In Linux, the PP installer that installs Reliable Messaging, TPBroker, and Web Services - Security differs from the PP installer that installs the other component software and the common modules of the products.
This subsection describes the procedure for a new installation. The installation operation requires the root permission. For details on the notes on installation, see Appendix J.1 Notes on installing and un-installing Application Server.
Note that in UNIX, you can give the operating permissions related to the component software, Component Container, to a general user (Component Container Administrator) who is not the superuser. In such cases, you need to perform operations before and after installation. For details, see 4.1.3 Setting Component Container administrator (For UNIX).
- Procedure
- Log in to Application Server with the root permission (superuser).
- Make sure that the packages described in the following table are installed.
- The packages to be applied vary depending on the OS version and the component software used.

Note: The 32-bit component software refers to Reliable Messaging, TPBroker, and Web Services - Security. The 64-bit component software refers to component software other than Reliable Messaging, TPBroker, and Web Services - Security.
#1: In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (AMD/Intel 64), the versions of these packages is 2.5-24 or later. However, depending on the OS used, these packages might not be included in the installation media.
#2: The PP installer requires the following packages:
- ncompress package or gzip package
- ncurses package
#3: If the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (AMD/Intel 64) version is 6.2, the version of this package is 4.2.4-54.el6_2.1 or later.
Execute the rpm command to check whether a package is installed. An example of command execution and an example of the execution result is as follows:
- (Example of execution)
#rpm -q --qf '%{NAME}-%{ARCH}\n' ncurses
|
- (Example of execution result)
This example indicates that the 64-bit ncurses package has been installed.
If the message Package package-name is not installed is displayed, this indicates that the package is not installed, so install the package specified in package-name. Note that as and when required during installation, install the related packages as well.
- Check whether the language type for executing the PP installer matches with the language on the terminal where you want to execute the installer, and make sure that the languages match.
- Set the product media in the CD-ROM drive.
- If the product media is a CD-ROM, mount the CD-ROM file system.
An example of command execution is as follows. The underlined part specifies the mount directory name of the CD-ROM file system. Note that the mount directory name varies depending on the OS, hardware, and environment.
- (Example of execution)
mount -r -o mode=0544 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
|
- Start the setup program for installing Reliable Messaging, TPBroker, and Web Services - Security.
An example of command execution is as follows. The underlined part specifies the mount directory name of the CD-ROM file system.
- (Example of execution)
/mnt/cdrom/linux/setup /mnt/cdrom
|
The CD-ROM setup program installs the PP installer and the resident process auto-start program on the hard disk, and the PP installer starts automatically.
- Note
- The coded contents and how to display the contents for the CD-ROM directory and file names might differ depending on the computer environment. Check with the ls command, and enter the displayed file name as is.
- In the main menu of the PP installer, press the I key.
The Install PP window appears.
- Move the cursor to the program, and then press the Space key.
Select all the programs (Reliable Messaging, TPBroker and Web Services - Security). <@> appears on the left side of the selected program. Note that you can also select and install a program.
- Make sure that <@> is displayed on the left side of all the programs, and then press the I key.
The message Install PP? (y: install, n: cancel)==> appears at the bottom of the window.
- Press the y or Y key.
The installation process starts.
If you press the n or N key, the installation process is cancelled and you return to the Install PP window.
- When the message indicating the end of installation is output, press the Q key.
You return to the main menu of the PP installer.
- In the main menu of the PP installer, press the Q key.
The PP installer terminates.
- Start the setup program for installing the common modules other than Reliable Messaging, TPBroker, and Web Services - Security.
