Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Client Description and User's Guide
Description
The rdsrf command specifies that packages be distributed to the local client workstation.
Format
- Distributing packages to the local UNIX machine
rdsrf -a[-mmanaging-host-name]- Stopping the processing of the rdsrf command
rdsrf -q
Option
- -a
- If there is a distribution job addressed to the local UNIX machine, specify this option to distribute the packages according to that distribution job. After all distribution jobs addressed to the local UNIX machine have been finished or if there is no distribution job addressed to the local UNIX machine, JP1/Software Distribution Client checks again for distribution jobs at the monitoring interval specified in WatchTimeofOrders of the settings file. Checking takes place until the rdsrf -q command is executed.
- If an error occurs during the processing of multiple distribution jobs addressed to the local UNIX machine, JP1/Software Distribution Client operates as follows:
- If an error occurs during the installation process, JP1/Software Distribution Client aborts the processing of the distribution job involved in the error and proceeds to another distribution job.
- If an error occurs during communication with a relay system, JP1/Software Distribution Client aborts the processing of all distribution jobs.
- -mmanaging-host-name
- If you want to execute the rdsrf command from a distribution-destination system whose operating environment has not been set up, specify the host name of the distribution-destination system that has received the job addressed to the local UNIX machine.
- -q
- Stops the processing of the rdsrf -a command. If you execute the rdsrf -q command during package distribution, the distribution process stops after the package distribution in progress has terminated. If the rdsrf -q command is executed during a retry interval, the distribution process stops immediately.
Notes
- If a distribution job specifies a package that has the same name as a package already installed on the local UNIX machine, the distribution job is not executed. If the package is distributed as part of a forcible distribution job, the distribution job is executed.
- Since the rdsrf -a command is automatically executed when the client workstation starts, normally there is no need for you to execute it. If you want to restart the distribution process after stopping it by entering the rdsrf -q command, execute the rdsrf -a command.
- Messages during command processing are not displayed on the screen, but are stored in one of the files listed below. For details about the messages that are issued during command processing, see 12.1 Checking failure information by messages in PART 4.
