3.1.1 Collection via a temporary collection storehouse on a relay system

When a resource is collected via a relay system, each client collects the specified resource and sends it to the relay system one level higher in the system hierarchy. The relay system bundles the resource files received from each client and sends them all to the managing server.

If the managing server executes remote collection on a large number of distribution-destination systems all at once, each distribution-destination system will collect the resource at roughly the same time. This increases the risk of communication errors at the managing server. To prevent such problems, you can place the resource files in a temporary collection storehouse on a relay system, or in a temporary collection storehouse on a distribution-destination system that is connected directly to the managing server. Using this method, you can collect all the temporarily stored resource files at the managing server later on.

Figure 3-1 illustrates remote collection using temporary collection storehouses on relay systems.

[Figure]

At batch collection of resource files from the temporary collection storehouse, if a line error or other problem occurs between the managing server and relay system, or between the managing server and a directly connected distribution-destination system, the system automatically retries file collection after recovery, from the point at which the error occurred.

If an error occurs between a relay system and a client, the system retries collection from the beginning of the resource files.
