8.2.2 Setting when the versions of each agent are different

This subsection the setting for using host names in the FQDN format in a DNS environment.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Setting for using host names in the FQDN format
(2) Setting for using host names in the non-FQDN format

(1) Setting for using host names in the FQDN format

The following is an example of the setting for using host names in the FQDN format in an environment where the versions of agents (JP1/AJS - Agent or JP1/AJS - Manager) are different (when the NDSEstablish parameter is set to Y).

Figure 8-2 Example of the setting for using host names in the FQDN format

[Figure]

When the version of the agent is 07-00 or later, if NDSEstablish is Y, the agent sends the FQDN host name of it to the manager.

When the version of the agent is earlier than 07-00, the agent sends its host name as is (the value output by the hostname command) to the manager.

Cautionary notes

(2) Setting for using host names in the non-FQDN format

The following is an example of the setting for using host names in the non-FQDN format when there are different versions of agents (when the DNSEstablish parameter is set to Nor specification of this parameter is omitted).

Figure 8-3 Example of the settings for using host names in the non-FQDN format

[Figure]

When the DNSEstablish parameter is set to N (or specification of this parameter is omitted), no specific settings are required.

The manager and agent perform communication using host names in the non-FQDN format (the value output by the hostname command) regardless of the version of the agent.
