Job Management Partner 1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide
The following are cautionary notes on the time setting of a monitoring target computer:
- Stop all Performance Management services before changing the time setting. After changing the time setting, restart the Performance Management services.
- When you change the current time to a past time, the system stores the data collection and history information after the changed time. When the system collects data and history information on the date and time that is the same as before the change, the system overwrites the previous information. For instance, when the current time is 12:00, July 5th, 2006, if you change the current time to the past date of 00:00, July 1st, 2006, the system overwrites the data and history information collected between 00:00, July 1st and 12:00, July 5th. If you want to store the data and history information collected on the same date and time before the change, execute the jpctool db backup command to back up the data and history information before changing the time setting.
- When you change the current time to the future time, the system does not store the history information between the time before the change and the time after the change.
- When you change the current time to a future time, performance data might be deleted because of its retention period. Therefore, before you change the current time to a future time, you must use the jpctool db backup or jpctool db dump command to back up the data.
- The event history is displayed in the order of the time the events were issued. Therefore, if you change a computer's time setting to a past time, the current event is inserted and displayed in the past event's history log.
- If you specify the display period for the historical report, the time setting in the PFM - Web Console is applied. You do not need to synchronize the time setting for the Performance Management programs. However, if the PFM - Web Console is configured with a time setting different from that of the other programs in Performance Management, data within a certain range might not be correctly displayed. This is because no such data exists in either the PFM - Agent or PFM - RM. In this case, you must configure the range for the historical report you want to display, noting the time setting difference between the programs. Likewise, if time zones between programs differ, you must configure the range for the historical report you want to display, noting the differences among those time zones.
