4.6 Monitoring console functions of Performance Management

The monitoring console of Performance Management is a browser. By accessing the monitoring console server from a browser, the system administrators can detect errors occurring in the corporate system in real time. You do not need to install or acquire different monitoring software for each agent. By logging on to PFM - Web Console from a browser, the system administrators can monitor the status of agent operations in real time.

You can use the following two methods for monitoring operation status:

Organization of this section
(1) Monitoring agents in an Agents tree
(2) Monitoring agents using logs

(1) Monitoring agents in an Agents tree

The icons display the status of agent operations. You can control agents in a tree structure by grouping the icons and converting the icons to a hierarchical structure called an Agents tree. Icons on the tree change when an event occurs in an agent. This allows you to visually check what kind of event has occurred.

By clicking the icon of an agent in the Display Alarm Status window, you can display the report associated with the alarm. You can then use this report, which appears as a graph or table, to check the operating status of the agent. When you select an item on the graph or table, you can have the report display a detailed graph or table associated with the item in a separate window. From the report, you can open a more detailed drilldown report.

The following figure shows agent monitoring using an Agent tree.

(2) Monitoring agents using logs

Using logs, you can display information about events that occurred during agent monitoring. You can check the latest information in the Event Monitor window for the date and time when the event occurs and details of messages. In the Event History window, you can also check the history of past events.

The following figure shows agent monitoring by logs.
