3.4.8 Estimating the required hard drive space for Performance Management

After finishing other steps, such as deciding items to be monitored, you need to perform the final step of estimating the required hard drive space for Performance Management. Performance Management handles the following three main types of data. The system administrator should estimate the size of this data and prepare the required free disk space.

Hitachi recommends that the system be designed with ample free disk space to ensure future system expandability.

The following gives an overview of estimating the required disk space for each Performance Management program. For details on required disk space estimates, see C. System Estimates.

(a) Required disk space for PFM - Manager

The following indicates the required disk space for PFM - Manager:

(b) Required disk space for PFM - Web Console

The required disk space for executing Web applications by using a browser to monitor depends on factors such as the OS in which PFM - Web Console is installed and the maximum amount of log data output by the system.

(c) Required disk space for PFM - Base

The required disk space for PFM - Base depends on factors such as the OS in which PFM - Base is installed and the maximum amount of log data output by the system.

(d) Required disk space for PFM - Agent and PFM - RM

The required disk space for PFM - Agent and PFM - RM is as follows:
