1.1.2 Management portal

The Management portal is a tool to set up and operate the execution environment of J2EE applications or batch applications by operating GUI window displayed on the Web browser. You can execute operations such as registering and starting the system applications set up using the Setup Wizard, and starting or stopping the system. Besides starting or stopping the system, you can perform various operations such as reading the set server information and setting that information to other servers, tuning and changing the system configuration for each host or server, and monitoring the operational status of a host or a server.

The settings required for system setup are displayed in a window and therefore you can use the system even without knowing all the settings. This tool is suitable for setting up a system that cannot be set up using the Setup Wizard and, a system that flexibly combines the processes for each host.

The following figure shows an example of system setup by using the management portal:

GUI window of the management portal allows you to set up the system by defining a host or server configuration, setting up the environment of each server, and deploying the set information to the host. You can setup and start the resource adapter or the business application required for connecting to the database. Also, you must set up the management functionality before using the management portal.
