Appendix B.2 Collecting resources when an error occurs

This subsection explains the various resources you can collect to investigate causes of problems, and explains how to collect the resources.

(1) Log information

Additional detailed log files are output to the directory of the basic log files (i.e. RcHstCtr.log and RcHstAgt.log). For details on the output directory, see K. Logging Format and Output Information.

(2) Setting information of the remote control program

You can collect setting information of the remote control program from the registry.

To collect the information:

  1. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  2. Enter regedit to the Open field, and then click the OK button.
    This starts registry editor.
  3. Select the keys that correspond to the product.
    For Remote Control Manager functions of JP1/Remote Control Manager and JP1/Software Distribution:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HITACHI\JP1/RemoteControlManager
      In Windows Server 2012, the 64-bit version of Windows 8 or Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64), the 64-bit version of Windows 7, the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008, the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003 (x64), \HITACHI should be replaced by \Wow6432Node\Hitachi.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HITACHI\JP1/RemoteControlManager
    For Remote Control Agent functions of JP1/Remote Control Agent and JP1/Software Distribution:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HITACHI\JP1/RemoteControlAgent
      In Windows Server 2012, the 64-bit version of Windows 8 or Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64), the 64-bit version of Windows 7, the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008, the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003 (x64), \HITACHI should be replaced by \Wow6432Node\Hitachi.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HITACHI\JP1/RemoteControlAgent
  4. From the menu, select Registry and then choose Export Registry File.
  5. Specify the output file for the remote control program's settings, and then click the Save button.
    The setting information of the remote control program is output to the specified file.
