3.4.7 Chat server settings

Use the following dialog box to set the operating environment of the chat server in order to utilize the chat function. More specifically, use the Chat page in the Remote Control Agent - Properties dialog box. However, this dialog box and page are not displayed if the chat component is not installed.

Start the server when the agent starts
Select this check box if you want to start the chat server when the agent starts. By default, this check box is cleared.
A chat server that is configured for automatic start will end automatically when the agent ends.
Port number
Specify the port number to be used for the chat server as an integer from 0 to 65535. The default port number is 30005.
If you specify a port number beyond this range, a message dialog box is displayed, prompting you to respecify a port number.
Icon is displayed on the taskbar
Select this check box to display the Chat Server icon on the task bar. By default, this check box is selected.
When you select this check box, the Chat Server icon will be displayed on the task bar when the chat server starts.
In Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the Remote Control Agent icon is not displayed on the taskbar. If you want to display the icon on the taskbar, choose Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, and then Customize icons on the taskbar. Next, select Show icon and notifications for Behaviors for the Remote Control Chat icon.
Start the chat function at the time of the connection
Select this check box to start the chat function when the chat server receives a connection request from the Chat window. By default, this check box is selected.
When you select this check box, the Chat window will be displayed when the chat server receives a connection request from the Chat window, indicating that the chat function can be used.
You cannot use the chat function before you log on. If a connection request is issued before logon, the Chat window will not be displayed until after you log on.
