This section describes the steps required before you use Client Tool. Check the following points before you install JP1/Software Distribution Client on your client machine using Client Tool.

• Check whether JP1/Software Distribution Manager (relay manager), JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system), and JP1/Software Distribution SubManager 07-50 or earlier are not installed on the client machine.
  If the following products are installed on the client machine, you cannot install JP1/Software Distribution Client:
  
  • JP1/Software Distribution Manager (relay manager)
  • JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system)
  • JP1/Software Distribution SubManager (version 07-50 or earlier)
• Check that the account permission is correct when the operating system of the client machine is Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP.
  When you make the settings on the Administrator Permissions page when creating an installation set and you log on as a non-Administrator user and execute Client Tool, the account information of Administrator on the client machine must match the account information that is set in the Administrator Permissions page. Otherwise, you cannot install JP1/Software Distribution Client. If this is the case, you must log on again using the account with the Administrator permissions, not as a non-Administrator user.
  
• Check whether JP1/Remote Control Agent is installed in the client machine.
  If JP1/Remote Control Agent is already installed, you cannot install Remote Control Agent even if you set the installation set to install Remote Control Agent as an installation component when you create the installation set.
  
• Check whether the installation destinations for JP1/Software Distribution Client contain a Windows 95 client machine.
  JP1/Software Distribution Client 07-00 or later cannot be installed on a Windows 95 client machine. Therefore, you need to create the following two types of installation sets in advance:
  
  • Installation set for JP1/Software Distribution Client 07-00 or later
    This installation set is required to install JP1/Software Distribution Client on a client machine whose operating system is other than Windows 95.
    
  • Installation set for JP1/Software Distribution Client 06-53 or 06-71
    This installation set is required to install JP1/Software Distribution Client on a Windows 95 client machine.
    
  To use these installation sets to install JP1/Software Distribution Client with ease, you need to create and execute a batch file.
  
• Check whether the combination of the OS on the machine on which the installation sets were created and the OS on the client machine is correct.
  Install the installation sets for Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista Edition JP1/Software Distribution Client on client machines that run Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista.
