You can create the following three types of installation sets using Administrator Tool:

• Installation set for a CD-ROM
• Installation set for a file server
• Installation set for an FTP server

The following describes the characteristics of each installation set. The system administrator must determine the type of the installation set to use according to the environment of the client machines.

Installation set for a CD-ROM

You create this type of installation set to install JP1/Software Distribution Client from a CD-ROM. When using this installation set, you can install JP1/Software Distribution Client even if the network environment is not prepared.

When you select the creation of an installation set for a CD-ROM, the installation set will be created in the local directory.

To install JP1/Software Distribution Client on client machines, copy the created installation set into a CD-ROM, and then load the CD-ROM onto each client machine.

Installation set for a file server

You create this type of installation set to install JP1/Software Distribution Client from a file server. When a user executes Client Tool on each client machine, the user can install JP1/Software Distribution Client based on the settings of the installation set in the file server.

The installation set for a file server is only for the environment in which users can share the network. If a client machine cannot use an already-mapped network drive for installation, you cannot use the installation set unless the client can map another network drive.

Installation set for an FTP server

You create this type of installation set to install JP1/Software Distribution Client from an FTP server. When a user executes Client Tool on a client machine, the user can install JP1/Software Distribution Client based on the settings of the installation set on the FTP server. You can use this installation set in any environment when a network is available.

Since Client Tool of the installation set for an FTP server downloads the installation set from the FTP server to the client machine during execution, the disk space required temporarily increases.

Figure 3-1 shows how to determine the type of installation set to be created.
