1.1 Purpose of JP1/Software Distribution Administrator Kit

This section describes the purpose of JP1/Software Distribution Administrator Kit.

By using JP1/Software Distribution, you can group distribution destinations based on the purpose of using the client machines and set the timing for distributing software, as well as installation conditions, to manage the distribution of software more closely.

Until now, system administrators had to group distribution destinations and set the distribution timing and installation conditions during installation and setup of JP1/Software Distribution, so they needed to repeat the same procedure each time they newly installed or upgraded JP1/Software Distribution.

To reduce this burden on the system administrator, JP1/Software Distribution Administrator Kit provides facilities to automatically install and set up JP1/Software Distribution Client on client machines.

By using the tools provided by JP1/Software Distribution Administrator Kit, you can create an installation set according to the purpose and work environment of each client machine. An installation set is a collection of files required to automatically install JP1/Software Distribution Client.

Once you create an installation set, you will only need to execute the installation set to complete installation and setup of JP1/Software Distribution Client.
